got there pretty early before the lines got long and left right after trentemoller finished his set and i must say overall..last night was pretty awesome..only been to cielo a coupla times before and have never seen it so packed..caught anders (trentemoller) mingling with the crowd and said hello..he seemed nice, maybe a bit nervous..anyway, his set was DEF the most unique one ive heard this year...was a bit afraid at first when he was droppin all of his most well known stuff in a row towards the beginning but his mixing and transitions were very interesting...less like a traditional dj and more like a rock musician jamming out on his instrument between songs..anyway the vibe and energy was great all night, sound was awesome as usual and he seemed to be havin a great time interacting w/ the crowd and stuff..nice seein sid, ghb and barosoap out

Decent amount of TAs, more than usual for a Thursday, vtec, knittybone, bogartgreens, sidml, DJslantzz (thanks for the drink), plexipr, and I'm guessing there were others of you there that I don't know. BTW, knittybone, how long did they wait to let you leave? That was the weirdest thing ever and I'm guessing it was over the firemen issue. Did you catch all the rock tracks they started playing around 2:15?

He blew it up...minimal and techno amped up to party level with rock, rap, scratching, everything mixed in. Cielo went berserk when he dropped his remix of Go. But the track of the night was the track Billy closed with. :eyes:

Jeez. Wish I could have gone to this. Sounds like it was great. Don't know how you guys manage the mid-week parties. I'll have to try it myself sometime.

Last night is just another example of why Cielo is my favorite venue in the city. We arrived around 11:40 to a line of 20+ people they weren’t letting in. Thankfully, the guestlist came through, and we got in within 10 minutes. The place got packed quickly, which was a little annoying, but the music more than made up for it. As commented on earlier there was definitely a high ratio of guys, but they weren’t the sleazebags normally found at Crobar, etc. and for the most part went to enjoy the music. The Robots warmed up the crowd nicely, and by the time Trentemoller came on people were ready to rock.

Aside from when Howells was there, I have never seen a crowd so enthusiastic about the music from start to finish. People had their arms in the air, cheering him on the moment he got in the booth. I thought it’d be a more subdued minimal crowd, but it was the complete opposite. Tretemoller and DJ T.O.M. played harder than what I expected, and the crowd was eating it up. Technically, it was awesome seeing them perform together. With his shaggy hair Trentemoller rocked back and forth practically headbanging as he tweaked the synths. From an interview on iBeats:
quote:
iBeats: When you perform you have your friend Thomas (T.O.M) DJing with you? How does this interaction work on stage?!
Anders: Thomas is doing scratching and efx and he is controlling the laptop, so I have free hands to jam and improvise with my keyboard and efx’s . I don’t like these ‘lap top-artist’ that just stare into their lap top without having any connection to the crowd. I love the near contact! And the energy!

This was very apparent last night, and before he went on he was mingling with the crowd, was polite enough to pose for pictures and was down to earth in conversation. I was a little worried the party would get shutdown when the firefighters showed up 45 minutes into their set, but they just walked out soon after. The fire alarm went off after their set when the Robots were back on, and that’s when we decided to leave. It was kind of funny because at first we weren’t sure if it was part of the music or an actual alarm.

The set had a lot of overlap with the Fresh n Fruit one but even more banging and ecclectic. I can’t really remember any more tracks than were mentioned except was this the Missy Elliott track he dropped? He seems to be playing it a lot though I don’t like it much.
Missy Elliott - We Run This (X-Press 2 Mix/Warner)

I'm not positive... but I don't think he did unless it was one of the times we went out for air. Maybe he's tired of playing it? haha not sure.

Place was bonkers....awesome vibe and the music was great. I'm glad I got the foot out of my ass and went. Got to meet Anders....seems like a really nice guy. Him and DJ Tom rocked that place sick! John- I wanna see those pics.
