Anyone here know the origin of the dj's name Meet Katie?

He walked into a porn store. Hahaha I had a little chat with him about that yesterday.

I'm still confused, is that the name of a video?
me@t k@tie
Yeah, he got the name from a porn video. Apparently porn is one of his major influences.

It doesn’t really mean anything, it was just a name that I chose to work under after leaving ceasefire. I just liked the name, I thought it rolled off the tongue really nice.” Hoping this question would prompt some kind of amusing anecdote to begin the story & establish an angle, his response wasn’t exactly what I was counting on. I asked Meat Katie to clarify exactly what he meant by this, while I bought time to think of another approach. “I just stole it, it was the name of a film…” Mark offered. This is where things became potentially interesting, but it was the inquiry about the film itself that brought forth the whole sordid tale that five years ago, saw the transformation of Mark Pember into Meat Katie.

”...it was just a porn film. A friend of mine runs a visuals company, he uses 50’s porn, real soft sort of like, erotica in his visuals, he’s got clubs in London that he does stuff in. He’s my flatmate, we were looking around the porn stores looking for titles & looking for stuff that he could use & I saw the film & just thought it was a great name & it was just at the time when I was looking for a name, so I just used that. I didn’t buy the film though which is a shame, I wish I had now.” With the benefit of this information, it no longer seemed necessary to ask about the meat. Perhaps a little unsure of my silence, he helpfully added “I haven’t even seen it, now I wish I had picked it up… but I’m sure I’ll be able to track it down.”
