Belo Nightclub in San Diego is a JOKE!!!!

After having travelled around the world I have to say that Belo Nightclub in San Diego is the Weakest/Worst/Lamest Club ever!!!!
I hope and pray that this club will be shut down and will do my best to legally attack it after tonight.
I was choking on a mint at 1:50 and was REFUSED TAP WATER!!! I was not on drugs and was choking
and was refused any TAP water by all the bartenders. I have never been refused tap water in my
life from any place!!! That has to be violating some CA. law. They all told me that nothing would
be served b/t 1:30 and 2:00 and that included tap water, even if somebody was choking to death.
So can they do anything they want? Even when a customer is turning purple?
I would be curious if anybody knows the CA. law.
While Sander was on point as usual with a bangin' set the rest of the club was also a total joke in addition to the tap water fiasco.
1. The sound system is the worst. (you can hear people talking!)
2. The bathroom is filled with pushy "gimmie" attendants.
3. While waiting for the bathroom all you can hear is crappy hip-hop and no EDM.
4. No room to dance w/o being pushed.
5. The usual overpriced weak drinks.
6. A huge hassle if you buy your tickets pre-sale.
7. The bouncers ripped alcohol from my girlfriend's hand at 1:30 with no option to drink it up.
8. The rudest and dumbest bouncers in SoCal.
9. Crackheads everywhere.
10. Did I mention no tap water?
We need GIANT to get out of belo ASAP or else EDM is San Diego is
in HUGE trouble.
Would appreciate any constructive feedback. |

| Not a big fan of Belo either. Sound is not very good. Very young crowd. Much preferred to see shows at 4th and B, even if it seemed empty by comparison. |

| Hmm... The 2 times I have been to Belo, the sound system was great. They have a TurboSound System with Cerwin Vega Subs.. Really nice setup.. Someone over there must not be setting it right. |

Wtf? That's horrible.
Ya.... I'm not a big fan of San Diego clubs. I've never been to Belo, but I went to one of the other clubs where Hernan & Oakenfold was playing like 4 years ago.
Do u have pics from the night? I wanna see! |

As far as I know, California law states that if alcohol is sold on the premises, they must offer FREE water of some sorts AT ALL TIMES. As in, tap water.
It doesn't even matter if it's after last call, if they have a liquor license free tap water has to be made available.
If it's a place with multiple bars, they don't have to have it available at every bar, but it to be available at one of them. |

Sounds like you just had a bad night. That sucks when that happens.
I was there and had a blast. Although I could have been one of the cracked out people you were talking about . . . and I wasn't cracked out. I walked into the room with my two day old phone in my hand and did a bowling move with it. I watched it go flying into the crowd and spent several minutes bumping into people looking for it.
Thought I lost it but some kind soul turned it into lost and found.
Overall I thought the crowd was great. Sander looked as if he was having a good time too.
Agree about the bathroom and the hip-hopers but other than that everytime I have been to Belo I have had good times. No washing machines and no tweakers. Just people who want to have a good time listening to great music.
They just started with the afterhours a couple of weeks ago and I bet there is some kind of learning curve associated with compliance to the bullsh*t regulations. Contact the club and let them know of your displeasure.
But I do know the promoters are working hard to bring in large talent and make it a pleasurable clubbing experience. These guys care. |

I don't work for any club pal. I don't get in free. Purchased my tickets like I always do via groovetickets. That was my observation for the night.
Guess I am not allowed to participate unless it jives with your thoughts hu?
Maybe I'll run my takes by you in future for approval.
btw what is "Bushaganda" anyway? |

It's a play on the words "Bush" and "propaganda." He's basically comparing you to George Bush and the bull he spews. I'd be pretty heated if I were you. |

Thanks but I understand. My question was meant to be facetious in nature.
I agree I am pissed.
Either you like me and my posts or you don't. I don't really care. But I am noboys ing tool on these boards.
And I think I can do better than bring another tired Bush bashing cliche to the table. |

CND i actually do agree with you in the sense that i like the club itself and robert i agree the sound is great.
now to what i hate.
-Rap/R&B rooms in a mostly EDM club. brings too much drama potential.
-Security likes to be overbearing, well at least the ones at the doors. its inconsistent what you can and cant wear/leave with. i have walked out with water but at times i have been forced to get rid of it. even an UNOPENED bottle.
-it gets TOO cold in there at times. i like that its got A/C but unfortunately if its not nicely packed its cold.
-the dj booth is a bit high. it would be nice to have it about 1-1.5 feet lower.
-the "DJ CANDY" bowl isnt filled with coke! lol (this is really just a joke)
-the crowd its got too many people there that arent into the music as much.
other than this i like the club. |

The last time I went to BELO.. I went with my guy pals and they covered my drinks so I didn't notice the no tap water policy.
A tip for all you tap water drinkers. Normally, if you want tap water, order it when you buy your booze..that way they shouldn't mess with you because they know their tip will be based on you getting the tap water on top of it too.
If you just come up and order tap water..bartenders probably see that as a "no-tip order" and they don't want that.
At certain clubs, I tip heavily when I buy booze and even when I ask for tap water, the bartender is nice enough to just give me a bottle of water sometimes.
Remember.. if you tip cheap.. expect bad service..that's in any field.
I am aware of the law for the tap water... but just in case you don't want to deal with the drama and just get your tap water .. then maybe go with what i suggest.
People should boycott and write to the appropriate authority figure! |
