Hey guys I'm trying to find a good site to buy a GSM phone other than one that cingular or other major us companies has picked up. Anyone got any good suggestions?

what phone do you want?
Orbital32
ebay. I bought mine off there. As long as its a GSM then you are good. Lets say you get a tmobile phone that is locked and you want to move to cingular... Get a friend who has tmobile to call Customer service and tell them that they need their phone unlocked because they are going overseas. Give them the IMEI number...then presto! unlocked phone. That's how i did it :D

I'm not sure what phone I want yet but I really don't like the selection that cingular has so i'm looking for some sort of pda phone other than the cingular carries.

well the cingular 8125 is really good. i have one and i love it. technically i have the Tmobile MDA but same exact phone with a different package.

if you want a pda phone dont get palm os based. its a bit cumbersome and isnt as generally compatible as windows mobile based. they are also easier to mess with. so if you want to disable things or enable things that the carrier disabled its easier.

if your looking for a smartphone get the samsung i730 or whatever it is thats a followup to the i600.

what features are you looking for?

Full windows mobile. Bluetooth. I'd prefer to have wi-fi. Decent sized memory card slot. Good reception.

well the HTC Wizard (cing 8125/tmo mda) has WM5, BT, and 802.11 a/b/g. the memory card slot allows 2gb miniSD cards and the reception is just as good as my old razr and razrs actually have really good reception but horrible call handling. i must say though if you get the wizard you MUST upgrade the firmware. it improves battery life and reception.

I personally HATE the 8125. I just don't like using the touch screen to make calls. That's my only gripe about it. The Treo and blackberries are pretty nice though.

So does anyone have a good site for where to buy phones?

I've bought a few phones from www.expansys-usa.com. Their prices are slightly higher than others but occasionally they have good bundles with the bluetooth headsets.
