I can't stand Wolf either, but you call that a "smackdown"? Can you honestly tell me that Lynn isn't being a little ing hypocritical with her accusations here? So she feels her ing little lesbian novel "sisters" is just fine for grandchildren to hear, yet Webb's novel is not?

And what the kind of answer is this?:

quote:
CNN'S WOLF BLITZER: But you had written a book entitled "Sisters."

LYNNE CHENEY: I did write a book entitled "Sisters."

BLITZER: And it did have lesbian characters.

CHENEY: No, not necessarily. This description is a lie, I'll stand on that.

BLITZER: There is nothing in there about rapes and brothels?

CHENEY: Wolf, could we talk about a children's book for a minute?

WOLF: This is an opportunity for you to explain on these sensitive issues.

CHENEY: Well I have nothing to explain.

It wasn't about lesbian characters? There wasn't anything in there about rapes and brothels? What the kind of nonanswers and denials is that? The lying twit gets cornered on her own bull and she wants to change the subject. Classic.

And what the is that about wanting the ing terrorists to win? By reporting how ed up this Administration's anti-terrorist policies? By reporting how ty this Administration's post-war plans or lack-thereof have gone?

It's funny - anything that criticizes this Administration is not merely just a valid criticism anymore, but is considered pro-terrorist. Anti-American. Unpatriotic. It's ing old and pathetic. People grew weary of this same Wingnut Noise Machine talking points when it was spewed years ago, and people are just as tired of it now. Why would anyone be surprised that a Cheney is continuing further with this baiting bull point?

You'll notice Wolf didn't answer the questions about where they got their terrorist propaganda videos either.

This was 'supposed' to be an interview about her book and he took the opportunity to press his own views; how very lame.

I actually agree with Opus somewhat here. And Firestarter somewhat.

I wouldn't say she gave him the smackdown, but she rightfully criticized him for wasting the better part of an interview that was supposed to be about a children's book engaging her in discussion about things I'd rather see the "big boys" deal with.

I hate Wolf, but I might hate Mrs. Cheney's outfit even more!:D

You really think it matters WHO was in office?

That would have happened regardless; all you have to do is look at all the that went down during Clinton's reign to figure that out.
By pointing that out, I'm not necessarily blaming Clinton either because the fact that he was in office, is also irrelevant in the larger picture...

Apparently, according to Wolf and CNN, Cheney knew or at least she should have known hours ahead of time that he was going to ask her questions outside of her book:

quote:
BLITZER: On Friday in the Situation Room on CNN, I interviewed the wife of the Vice President, Lynne Cheney. The interview generated quite a bit of commotion and we are going to replay the unedited version. First, some history. I have been covering the Cheneys for many years, including on a day-to-day basis when he was the defense secretary during the first Gulf War and I was CNN’s Pentagon correspondent. This — Mrs. Cheney has been a frequent guest on my programs. I have often invited her to discuss her new children’s books. She always is open to discussing the news of the day.

In this most recent interview, she, of course, knew we would would be speaking about politics. That was reaffirmed to her staff only hours before the interview. As a former co-host of Crossfire during the 1990s, she knows her way around the media. She was never shy about sparring with Democratic strategist and co-host.

I was surprised when she came out swinging on Friday, surprised by what she said about the “Broken Government” series and the excellent one-hour report by our chief national correspondent John King. One of the most precise and respected journalists in Washington. The decision to air sniper video which Anderson Cooper branded, I’m quoting now, “a single propaganda tape.” Surprised at her sniping at my patriotism.
