It was really fun going to stereo again, considering I can't even recall the last time I've been.
Maher; It must be quite an accomplishment, know that I'm proud of you and wish you to have more and more opportunities in the future.
Lee was to my expectations.
Till next time,
moeva. |

Musically, this was it for me, I can honestly say that the only time I was close to being that happy was for Extrawelt on the 13th...
I got there around 3:45 with Maher pumping up the crowd, smoothly getting everyone into the groove. It was very well done Maher I must say, you've said you wouldnt cross over the 125 mark and it sounded like you didn't which was cool, actually for me it was quite the perfect opener for someone like Lee:
didn't take too much out of the crowd but slowly got them in the mood, good job!
Lee Burridge comes right after James Holden and Sven Väth on the top DJ list for me. Technically on the decks he's even better than Holden and I was very happy to see him using mostly vinyl, keeping the spirit of the record alive. He came on around 4:30 (I was hearing whispers of 5 o'clock but was very happy to see him come on half an hour earlier than expected.)
Anyone who's seen him live and wasn't there can only close their eyes and picture him: he's an incredible showman who loves the he spins and completely understands it, has complete and utter control over his sound and ultimately over the crowd. From 4:30 until 9:00 the man didn't stop, I had two cigarettes throughout his set and when I wasn't outside on the pissing rain and umbrella drippage fiasco I was on the dancefloor completely out of my head which was clear and un-toxicated save for some red-bulls..it's the only way to party for me now, drugs that blur your experience and make you question the world for days to come afterward, . that.
Lee on the other hand was completely ed :haha: and the Classic Moments of the night came all from him and his antics: waving the records like fans, doing one-man waves with his body and hands, letting his palms follow the beats and then spontenously turn into rabbit-ears, etc. etc. et al. the man is a beast.
Musically it comes close to the 13th and that's about it. Sander and Mauro provided the best parties of the year so far, (the former spinning for 8 hours the latter for 6 when both were supposed to be done 3 hours before they actually were)...Lee Burridge was all about sound: minimal elements from start to finish resembling insects on speed, techy + electro beats right up until the end, extreme bass power from the middle onwards on every track, at one point it got INN HARDD and I loved every minute of it, not too much acid as I was hoping for but he did play that gem 'Acid in My Fridge' toward the very end which was sick! and he finished it up with some classy house beats which was good for the finale...
Hi to all the TAs that were there: Stereohead, Karl_24, nebu, moevalith, aria_clubber, all-nite-freak, Azia (seeing you two on the speaker reminded me of Sander and was reallly really cool :gsmile: ), Allied Nations ("have you seen a guy with wings?" :haha: ), licks, Enigmatik (nice ring!), Enjoy, Piett (left so early, just when it was beginning to be something else!) and of course Maher (thanks for the hook-up and congrats once again!) ... if I forget someone, desole.
I'm out. Random thoughts might be posted but right now this is too much for me, I keep remembering the night which makes me want to go back so much, I can't believe it's over and I'm sad to see that nothing much else is happening this year that can top this night, music wise...hopefully Stereo pulls a surprise and brings someone MASSIVE in late November/early December..hope hope...
LEE IS THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
