Hey guys,
I started a new tune yesterday. If you have some time, can you take a quick listen and give me any advice on its production?

This is about the first two minutes of the song - its all I have done at the moment.

Thanks!

Sounds great so far! Iīm not a producer myself so I can not give that kind of advices, and I donīt think you need any! It has a nice driving kick, interesting melody, nice synths... Just keep working, I would like to hear the full soon! :toocool:

I like the synths that you used on this, I hear some diversity in there and that makes for an good/interesting listen.

The synth that comes in at 1:10 seems a little overpowering, but not all the time, maybe just on the lower notes it plays? Could just be my worn out ears.

I think the kick could use some more low end. The bass might need some more low end as well.

What's the BPM of this? It's pretty chill  .

I dig your "Rough Draft" and I'm looking forward to the final draft.

Thanks for the feedback, Akia and 3F05Q! I really appreciate it!

3F05Q, I'll work on the kick and the bass in my final mix. I'm still learning quite a deal about mixing - using EQ, compression, etc. The beat is 130 BPM. I'll have to EQ that synth that comes in. I believe you are right in stating that it is really driving at the lower frequencies.

I'm kind of at a loss where to take this now. I keep getting 'writers block'. I think the part with the melody ought to happen after a break instead of in the beginning. I need to work on building more tension first....

Again, thanks for taking the time to listen and provide feedback.

Hey man just grabbed this :)

Cant totally hear the bass/frequencies all too well because im on the laptop.

For what i can hear:

The percs sound nice and crisp and full

0:15, i believe this deserves a minor delay and could be fatter

1:10, nice melody you got going here, very chilled track and really makes a moving tune with this. Adds a lot of emotion and feel to the entire synthesis of the piece of work.

Overall, I like, chilled out, not too "in your face" if you know what I mean.

Keep it up:)

a bit psy sounding with that synth that comes in first. change it if your going for melodic or uplifting. like the melody in the mini breakdown.

i can hear the potential of your tracks getting better. only thing is the lack of depth in in them. your eqing skills have improved but the track lacks depth. everything seems to be in the foreground of the track. try putting reverb on some things and panning stuff. give it more room and add some atmosphere.

keep it up!

Thanks for the review and the comments! I will keep the 'depth' issue in mind when I do my final mix after I've completed the song. I still have tons of things to learn about mixing/mastering. When I post up the final version, and I didn't add depth to it, please let me know...

Anything in particular I should add reverb or panning too?

Regarding that synth that first comes in. That was really the basis for the inspiration. It was something I created using Rapture. I'm not sure what I'm going after to be honest :D

it really depends on you and what you want the listener to pay attention to. pick your focal point then branch out. anything that isnt the main melodic piece eq it so it sits back in the mix and put reverb on it so it adds some depth. then do the same with the panning.

Thanks! So much to learn
