| the keyboard may 'dry up' after a while, may take more than just a night. I've done this before and it took about 4 days before some of the keys went back to operational mode. As far as your operating system error .... sounds like pwnage, sorry. New laptop is in order, cuz you might've gotten some on the hard disk or the motherboard. |

I'll give it a few days and if it doesnt improve, reformat & reinstall. at the very least I might get a usb keyboard or open it up and around. |

You might be able to clean off the components that got the liquid on them with some Isopropyl Alcohal. Make sure to get 91% or better (99% Preferable). Get some lint free towels and wet them with the Isopropyl(DON'T SOAK THEM). Wipe off any liquid/'' that made it past the keyboard down into the components and then let it dry for atleast 20 Minutes (1 Hour+ would be better). Canned air can also help with the drying process.
If you got lucky, none of your components got fried.
As for your lappy not being able to find the OS. Here's hoping that the HDD didn't take the full boar of your blunder.
You can try a repair of the OS, instead of a complete reformat:
Pop in the Windows XP CD and Hit "R" when asked. In the command Prompt, type "Help" and you will get a list of commands that you can enter.
Type "CHKDSK" and hopefully it will find errors and repair them so you can get back into the OS.
Good luck. |
