I would stay away from Playing alot of Epic these days...and bring in a variety of other DJ's. Remember that its a business and you have to bring the people in, so its mainly house that will get liquor sales and of course -hop. maybe do a bi-weekly thing with trance and the harder stuff. The owners don't give a what music is playing as long as people are coming in and buying drinks. Good luck bro :) |

Good luck with the residency.
You'll end up searching and listening a lot for new tunes. Oh and begging friends. Haha. |

welcome to the world of the working dj
you'll quickly learn who your friends really are
buy music, all of it, spend all the money you make on music
playing out 3-4 times a week, you'll need it to stay fresh and not go stale |

I can't stress this enough either. It can become terribly challenging sometimes, but you have to be very proactive by searching out and buying everything you can get your hands on that will compliment your style. |

no idea yet! i'm meeting with the main owner at a gig im playing tomorrow night (just a friend's halloween party, but its the same friend who hooked me up so the owner will be there) and ill talk about going to see the setup and whatnot and discuss all the little details, ask questions, etc. i know for sure the opening night ill be bringing my djm800 as im most comfortable on it but we'll see what they have installed (or what will be installed if needed). the guy seems pretty open to feedback about the place and i still need to visit and check it out. as far as not wearing my sound down...
i already have about 130 choons lined up ready to download on beatport...and i need to invest heavily in more proggy and tech-house as im lacking in that department. |
