No cheese here ladies and gentlemen!

A few breakbeat tracks, a lot of new tracks and some great mixing. It was hard to define the particular stype he plays in this 2 part set but its great (and some you say its hard to define PVD's style). Hes definately got a nice unqiue style which separates him from PVD, Tiesto, AVB, etc. I personally liked this live set. Well mixed tracks with great flow, and innovative.

Definately a good download.

my vote 9.2/10

Anyone else listen to it? Comments?

boring, stale..typical Oakenfold. but i have to give him a little credit for the mixing, he didn't trainwreck for once! 2/10

not bad at all.. only listened a couple times so far but dont get it if you dont like BREAKS ppl.
which i do:D

and you're only calling it boring and stale in relation to the '99' oakenfold, gotta realize he's a not a 'hands in the air' trance dj anymore. djs change. look at seb fontaine for ONE. or any dj.

its not even really a trance set

Yeah djs definately change. Trance back in 99 and 2000, tiesto, ferry, avb and sakin all sound the same. Im not kidding. The innercities, the cds. etc etc. But now, these guys have different sounds but still their styles sometimes cross over.

yeah, so what? im all for a little variety. hell if he was still trying to do tranceport over and over again, i certainly wouldnt be trying his new sets out. oakie may not be your cup of tea (which is speaking lightly for many people) - but at least he has the balls to try new things. if some of these people spent as much time looking for trance they like-rather than just bashing him the world would be a better place.

typical oakie you say? so why did you dl it, if you knew it would suck? listen to something else if you only want to hear certain things. its trancey but NOT trance...get over it/
Dahippieman
i liked the set...wasnt my fav oakey set but i like the snyths on the first track..the new remix of "am i on pause" is decent...anyone else hear the original remix of "southern sun" yet? imo better than the tiesto PEACE
speedracer_mec
tiesto and avb fill in my trance progressive void
ferry corsten and tiesto also fill in my uplifting void
paul oakenfold does pretty much a mixture of everything combined and a layer of breakbeat over all of it:D

theres already a thread on this topic but oh well. Yes oakenfold has always been a favorite of mine and i really enjoy his taste in music. He played some sweet ass breaks, especially the first song on the second part. I think he got this influence of breaks from Arthur Baker who is on his perfecto label. And about the flawless mixing you are right, it is almost imossible to tell on the second set when paul is mixing. He is friggin amazing in his mixes sometimes. And i dont think oakenfold trainwrecks in sets because he sucks, i think he has bad equipment sometimes and is kinda disgusted with having to use it. When he wants to i think he can mix better than any dj out there.

this set proves again like wookieslut said
Oakey has the best mixing skills then any other dj out there.

Shame this set is 2 parts...
Great Outdoors
I would have to say that the mix was very breaks-driven. I'm not a hater of breaks, but they do tend to bore you at times; Oakie did a pretty decent job in holding the exitement together, though. The first track is very good..
