Need specific fx - forgotten name

Hey there, I'm looking for a specific plugin and I can't remember what they're called. They bring out the natural overtones in the higher range of a sound or something like that. They give a sound a sharper finish. I've forgotten what they are called. I use to have one but it shat itself whenever I tried to use it in real time so I ditched it completely and now can't find the .dll
If anyone can recommend a good one, that would be appreciated.

Thanks for that. Yeah, I'm pretty sure now the one I had was called a "sonic maximiser" which is an exciter yeah?
Can anyone recommend a decent one? |

Yeah, I think that was the one. It was a few years ago now though, so can't really remember that well.
Any decent free ones going around these days? |
