Currently I am in San Francisco where I am being asked to dj an event for 250 dollars. It is a really small dance/ social gather. However, I have no speakers and am not really familiar with renting speakers and what not. has anybody had experience with renting speakers, particularly with places in san francisco. I am afraid that I may not be able to get this speaker thing situated in time :nervous:

if you have to provide sound, i'd be asking for more than 250

look in your yellowpages (or whatever you have for business)
and look for PA rentals or a lot of music gear shops i work with do rentals as well

you'll most likely need only 2 jbl eons for a small event, 3 if you want a monitor, maybe a sub to fill in the sound

when you find out the price of some speakers make sure the event organisers pay for it its there problem not yours.

yea the $250 to spin is fine, but have them add in the cost of your gear mate.

it's too late now as this is a student organization and 250 is actually their budget limit...but with renting equipment...do i get charged for two days of use if i rent the speakers on friday night and bring them back saturday morning?

that is something you'd have to ask the rental place

That's one days rental. If you picked the gear up on friday, and then brought it back before a certain time (they'll let you know when) You'll only be charged for one night.

The rental however, could make this quite the gratis gig for you. Don't think you're gonna be making much.

I can see the speakers costing around 80 bucks, and if you want to add a monitor or a sub, add a little more to that.

Just a heads up.

Either way, you'll probably have a good laugh :) That's what's important isn't it? lol
