I dont want something utterly expensive. I have an integrated sound card and i just got cubase sx 3. Cubase wont work good with the current setup.
Im looking at a decent sound card in the $0-100-150 range.
What are your recommendations? |

E-MU 0404 or M-Audio Audiophile 2496
Both are good and inexpensive cards. |

u bet bro..
I m thinking of buying an Audiophile 2496 too..
it has an input for a midi controller too apart from most usual features.
anyone can tell me of its disadvantages, if any ?
Like u cannot add any hardware..? |

Both E-MU 0404 and Audiophile 2496 only have one analog stereo input and one analog stereo output. So, they're very basic cards.
The E-MU has a DSP built in on the card. The effects are pretty good actually. I'm not using the DSP though since I use Reason. It can also record in 24/192. Which is pretty pointless if you ask me, 24/96 is more than enough. |

I don't need a lot of inputs since I have an external mixer, I'm very happy of the audiophile.
If you have some free pci-slots you can add another card in the same system, working flawlessly together. |

| emu's 1212m will be the good choice if u can get it in 150$. it's ad/da converters are much better than the 0404. |
