I don't think he's a brilliant producer. A lot of the stuff I hear from the Kanye on the radio are sampled from very old records before any of you were even born. He slows them down and modernizes them to fit a hip-hop sound. For example the "Touch The Sky" track for the video Kanye bragged about was sampled from an old RnB record by Curtis Mayfield called Move On Up done in 1970.

Thanks. Did they say that in the video? I couldn't really hear much due to the dubbing. Has anyone found a better copy of the video? There was one on TMZ that I found when I news googled the story, but it's only 40 seconds long, cutting off most of it and worse video quality.
