Assuming that u are using win xp: go to start>settings>control panel>user accounts>select an account, and I guess the rest is self explanatory. Once you have set the password to lock your computer simply press the windows key + L.

if you're using win xp, i prefer using Ctrl + Alt + Delete to log on and enabled when the screen saver comes on. that way you have to use a password to logon to the system and when you walk away from your machine for a while so people can just walk up on your sh!t.
I also use TrueCrypt to encrypt a partition with a pass phrase as a key to store my more important information.
Start> Control Panel> Users> Change the way users log on or Off> Uncheck Use the Welcome Screen
Make sure you know or change the password for the user/admin accounts before you do this. |
