And? | Well, it can't be anti-semitic:conf: I think he makes fun of anti-semitism by making it look stupid. |

Anti-Semitism is a pretty major part of the Borat character. |

Most people don't know WHO Borat really is. There are some people who take jokes to seriously and even if they know he's Jewish, whatever amount of Jewish jokes there is in a movie theyll try to spark a controversy. |

| It can't be anti-semetic if it's a joke. They would never ever release a seriously anti-semetic movie EVER! Look at what happens when there is even the slightest amount of cynicism towards Jews. Remember the whole Mel Gibson drama? They tried their damndest to get people to hate him and ruin his career. There's just too many Jews in Hollywood for such a thing to happen. |

I don't understand what it is you're trying to argue here. We're not discussing whether or not the movie is anti-semetic, but rather the anti-semetic humour within the movie.
What's so hard for you to understand? |

| What I meant was that they know it's a joke, they still take it so seriously and find his jokes and point of view a great insult to Jews. Last I heard Sascha Baron Cohen has gotten law suits for doing the film and many of the interviews. Also heard he's planning on making a Bruno film (his gay character). |

| i think its to do with the fact that the distributors are worried americans wont get his humour. i remember seeing him on letterman and you could see he really didnt get it and did a poor job tryin to false laugh |

| quote: | | On Friday, THR brought word of a multistudio bidding war for the worldwide distribution rights to Sacha Baron Cohen's next movie, Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt, an auction obviously timed to maximize the comedian's take before Borat's upcoming, scaled-back release could threaten a market correction for his guerrilla filmmaking services. Today, they follow up with news that Universal won the Bruno sweepstakes with their $42.5 million offer, which they note covers the film's budget and features a "significant backend component," subtle contractual language that we suspect Cohen himself required be included in any report of his agency's eight-figure buggering of the studio. With this deal completed and his considerable Borat promotional responsibilities dispensed of, Cohen can soon begin the crucial work of devising ways to goad Bruno's homeland into a prolonged public war intended to dispel the notion that Austria's population is wholly comprised of neon-mohawked, fashion-obsessed television hosts preoccupied with sexually menacing American college football teams. |

| I'm not arguing anything. I just think his humor is supposed to make fun of anti-semitism. In other words, making fun of people who hate Jews and not making fun of Jews. Any controversy, like law suits or whatever, is just publicity. Like it is with everything else in Hollywood. |

Yes. And so does everyone else. |
