Thoughts on Love

Alright, well I will predicate this review by saying I was a little drunk last night, so with that in mind...

I really enjoyed love. Again, maybe it was the booze, but I felt that the place has the potential to be a mini-twilo/arc. The sound on the main dance floor is unreal, and there is no pretentious vibe like you get from the staff and crowd of most other dance clubs in New York.

No one is there to be seen, just to dance.

The black-lit environment when you get in reminded me of the corridor before the ticket window at Twilo. They've also got the big disco ball above the dancefloor... like Twilo :) .

Tini Tun absolutely ripped it, as did whoever else it was that was playing, but there were only 10 people there to enjoy it! I loved the space to dance, but would have enjoyed a crowd to build up some electricity.

Whoever used to promote Twilo and Arc should promote this place to bring in the underground crowd - I think it could be great... can't imagine how ing powerful a Sasha & Digweed, Sander, etc. night would be at this place.

It's a cool little place, but no one is ever there when I go... no one, which IMO detracts from the vibe

Made should deffintly do a party there.

I wanna goto Love. Never been there...perhaps in the near future

Too small for Sasha & Digweed (and the like), unless it's a completely private or ticket-only (like Sasha @ Cielo was) or unannounced party

unfortunately i couldn't make it last night... but i have to agree with you on the venue being great. sound system is just kickin'. i know love is trying to stay away from trance, but honestly i think they should bring a couple more lesser known trance dj's along. the most crowded i've seen love was when andy moor was there. get a one or two decent trance headliners every month or so and it'll definitely draw a couple more people out to the place. i know some people probably would disagree because it might bring in the "kiddies", but i for one feel like having at least a semi-full dance floor contributes to the quality and vibe of the night.

I like LOVE, but only prob. is when its dead in there. Theres been times when u see like 5 ppl there, 1 of which is the bartender. :wtf:

ya love is nice just no1 goes

promoters need to step it up a notch if they want it to be sucessfull.

Yeah you're probably right on Sasha or Digs, but I think they could get away with a big dj there like sander or zabs - they'd just have to take less money for the gig.

Anyone know how Love's capacity compares to what Arc's was?

i'd say love is half, maybe a third of arc

"understanding supply andemand while establishing a market niche"

how does such concept apply to a venue?, well iny we have several venues competing for the same ppl every single weekend; not to mention, all of them play house and pretty much provide the same experience. a way to differentiate a venue is by becoming a specialty provider. back in 1999 there was a phenomenal venue on 52 st named "float" the owner had fallen in love with trancedm and every weekend the place was full with glorious music played by a greek guy. anyway, i am proposing for love to differentiate itself and to have a more active role promoting itself (a basic but smart website would be nice). regarding the genre having both house, trance and techno in one single night would cater to a wider audience over time. also being consistent is critical to leave a positive impression in eveyone as they leave; having dj's playing sleepy music will send ppl straight to their appt's before 3am at this stage only superb energy is the only alternative providing a fun lasting and electrifying experiencedm

: : love is possible and love must prevail iny : :

I really wanted to make it out to hear Tini Tun on Friday, but was just way too beat from a long ass week. I'm sure Tini and all the other djs played great sets.

about the turnout...there is so much competition on a given weekend in NYC nowadays that its tough to pack the place out every week. One thing I will say, is that there are some amazing djs being booked @ Love in the coming months that I am sure will peak everyone's interest and draw big crowds. So, stay tuned.
:)
