well?

No one cares about this these days (I do!) but a mix (of a track, not a DJ mix) doesn't generally features new sounds.
A remix uses generally only new sounds.

Here is how I label them.

Artist - Track (Dumonde Remix)
(This is when another person is remixing the song)

Artist - Track (Chilled Mix)
(Another mix of the same song by the artist.)

Artist - Track (Dumonde's Chilled Mix)
(Although another artist is doing it, since it's Dumonde's DIFFERENT or SPECIALLY LABLED mix, it is a mix and not a remix.)

Artist - Track (Armin van Buuren's Rising Star Mix)
(Once again, it's a type of mix, so it's MIX and not REMIX)

Artist - Track (Remix)
(If the artist just made another mix of the track, without labling the mix, it is just a Remix.)

Thanks for the info davinox. Would you mind explaining what a dub is? I've seen the term a lot, but don't know exactly what it means...

I think dub generally means the vocals have been removed...is this right?
Haak
yeah I think that's usually the case, but Marco V - Godd (Dub mix) has vocals
GrimReaper
Yeah, dub usually means minor vocals or some filtered vocals.. if there is no vocals at all, then it usually is an instrumental mix, no dub mix. But this varies very much..

Somtimes the djs who remix the song or the label call it mix

like Dj Norman-Go Back

There remix called mix but they are diffrent and 303 mix is the best ;)

tu_face
dub mixes always sound a lot dirtier..
