Mac & Mac - Rippin' Base EP [Reset]

One of the biggest tracks this year for me was 'Listen'.
Punishing tribal beats backed by a superb vocal sample, this was pure dancefloor-oriented tribal-tech, uncompromising and relentless.
For their latest release, Mac & Mac, keep a similiar flavor but, add a heavy dose of electro to beef things up. This EP features three tracks (original+remix) and another brand new single.
Rippin' Base (Scott Mac Mix) - This track wastes no time and jumps into that awesome tribal groove right from beat one. After a short intro, the main vocal snippet is introduced, giving the track more body and drive. This eventually leads into an awesome awesome breakdown, very dark, tense and spooky, like some virus is about to breakout and as if it's warning you to get the away as fast as possible. In trademark style, the elements are gradually added (incl. the vocal snippet used in the body). They all build up to an intense snare fill and then suddently, abrupt silence for a second after which this OMFG insane electro-tech synth explodes outta nowhere and pounds along with that tribal bassline. - 8.5/10 Listen
Original Mix - I don't have samples at the moment. Will update soon.
I Feel It : More Mac & Mac madness on the flip.
Fans should notice that they've used a sample from Listen as well as borrowed some percussion. As before, they've used a superb vocal sample during the break. The tribal bassline gradually comes back and the track chugs along nicely. The rest of the pattern is somewhat the same as Rippin' Base with the exception of a small breakdown towards the end. - 8.5/10 Listen
I'd appreciate if somebody could help me identify the sample.
I distinctively remember hearing this sample on Josh Wink's Profound Sounds Vol. 1 back in '98-'99.
I'm yet to hear the Original Mix and I'm sure it will be just as devastating.
As I said earlier, Reset continue to push the envelope and this superb 3-track release is worthy of a full thumbs-up.
Release Date : 27 November |

I agree, Listen was a great ing song, perhaps the whole vocal got annoying at times, but there was always the dub :D
Anyway, these tracks sound great! Totally unable to play out (good ol Grand Rapids, MI = nothing but CHEESEY electro house), but will be fun as hell to dance to sooo hopefully someone will have them in a set or two |

rippin base is amazing, love the bassline its gota be a dance floor ripper... 9/10
'i feel it' is also very nice shame they had to copy the sample of 'listen' and the same lay out basicly, would have been abit more inventive trying something esle.. but again driving bassline nice breakdown n build up, can see this also been a dancefloor ripper..
7/10
cant wait to hear the original of rippin'base :eyes: |

Not a bad release.
Im really liking the breakdown on this with those eerie sirens.
Following in the same vain as 'Listen'
But 'Listen' is far better than this. |
