Most people here don't like it if you can't sing along to it or it doesn't involve lyrics with bangin' hoes, shooting someone/something, or drugs. Plus, I don't think USA as a country is as open and accepting as most other countries in the world, they like things the way they are and don't take change to well. |
LOL you are so right, same happens here in cali. Although in the bigger cities (SF or LA) it is more recognized.
I think it's a good thing as well, I want the popular thug culture (component of hip-hop) to die. It causes violence, which causes people to go to jail, which causes us the tax-payer to pay for their living.
I would love to be able to discuss EDM music with real people who I physically see everyday.
...just a few examples. |

Well, to be fair, a lot of 'techno' has topics of drugs too. ;) |

| It' strange though that America was the last-one to assimilate the EDM movement, because the EDM-scene had started in the states in the first place. |

Yeah, none of the people in my school listen to it. All they listen to is Sandstorm. When my friend asked me to make him a CD of my favorite Techno tracks, I put a whole bunch of Adam Beyer and Thomas Schumacher on there. He had no idea what he was listening to. |

someone talked about voting because of what they heard on the radio.... EDM is hardly on the radio in the USA. Basically, EDM is an underground type of music. As most here have said, your average person only knows it as "techno"
We live in a sad country. |

How do we live in a sad country just because the majority doesn't know anything about underground dance music? :conf:
I would just say a lot of people are misinformed. That's all... |

| well, to me that's sad. To have quality EDM be associated with cheesy 1999 trance or pop with a beat because "that is what techno is" over here. |

But these people aren't going out of their way to listen to "underground edm" like you and I. Whatever, dunno why I am trying to explain this to you. :) |
