Recorded this past Summer, I hesitated to put this one out there simply because there were so many people playing a lot of these tunes all spring/summer. The set came up sometime in July while I was both working with/learning some new tunes as well as playing a few classics here and there, and as a couple TA's and some friends asked for some new tunes from me, I just thought I'd throw this one out there.
I'll be working on some new things over the next couple of months, but for now I hope you guys enjoy this set. The mastering isn't as good as I usually like on a set, but it really only affects the low end the tiniest bit on the Layo & Bushwacka and Flanders tunes.
As always, feedback is much appreciated! Cheers!

figured i'd start off with this one and move on to bobby's
one thing i'm really proud of Robby about is the fact that he knows how to start off a set properly, something i have never been able to do. my just jumps right into it, while Turner sets the mood. I bet he's great in bed (looking at you myra).
and thanks to Daniel K for introducing me to Booka this summer because, this track is flowing right now.
holy does it pick up... bopping my head at the office for sure.
let me just say i'm not gonna talk about the mixing unless i hear something ed up, i already know what you're capable of and as do the rest of the people on these boards.
groovy vocal track, i like that, nice use of it at the beginning of the set, and it fits in with the progression. Tiefschwarz is on the same level as Trentemoller production wise right now for me, so two great artists right of the bat, you're not ing around are you?
meh... kayot kinda drops it off for me, too light and fluffy, i'm guessing you have a reason for it so i'll hold off on judgement until i hear what you do next.
aaaaand right back to the funk, yes now i can say kayot was out of place in my opinion (and in my opinion only).
a little faster paced on this song, i can feel the energy finally start pumping around the 25 min mark.
ohh you just went on a rampage for the next 3 tracks, totally love it, complete energy build. good selection right here. go or die! - last survivor sticks out.
these last tracks are more of what i'm used to from you, i think your style has evolved over the summer and since the last time i've listened to one of your tracks. you started off with some downtempo groovy , had a hiccup with some fluffiness and then went to the old you. but the set was built right, i think your knowledge of your selection is excellent. the last track was definitely a more progressive sound but good way to close this whole thing off.
however i am pumped up for work (we'll see how long that lasts) and i'm glad you shared this for me this morning cuz it definitely sets the rest of my day up.
cheers! |
