I feel embarassed for even asking this...
but...
In, for example, a 3 channel mixer, does the crossfader work like this:

Or does it only work with two channels which you specify? |

Er... just saw this picture with the "crossfader assign"
Guess that's how it works, eh? Or does it vary?

| you assign the crossfader to 2 channels it would just be easier not to use it anyway |

My Mixer, Vestax PCV 275, has 3 channels but only channel 1 and 3 are assigned to the corssfader. You can't use the crossfader on channel 2.
HTH.. |

Same with my Stanton SMX-251... gotta use the volume fader for channel 2. |

that's my mixer. If you look at that crossfader, just to the top left and top right of it there's a dial under which it says "assign a" under the left, and "assign b" under the right one, and the numbers 1-4 listed around each. If you have the crossfader turned on, you can switch which channel the crossfader is assigned to by using those dials. |

My mixer (Ecler Nuo4) is slightly different than the posted example, so I'll share.
Below each channel, there is a three-position switch. You can select:
XFA- left side of crossfader
MIX- not assigned to crossfader, eg. controlled via up-faders only.
XFB- right side of crossfader
This allows you to assign more than one channel to each side of the crossfader if you wished.
Perhaps others with different brand mixers can contribute (A&H, various Pioneer models, etc.). |
