Ministry proudly present Mark Farina's first mix album on a UK label. Mark Farina is yet another renowned figure of inspiration for the acclaimed Session series which has seen Josh Wink, Derrick Carter and DJ Sneak this year already. Mark has pulled all the stops out for this one with nearly 40 tracks of absolute jackin housers!
Mark Farina has been a figurehead of the US house scene for over 15 years, first cutting his teeth in the now legendary Chicago/Detroit scene in the late eighties. As time went by he went on to pioneer the Mushroom Jazz genre in San Francisco, championing a more mellow style of jazzy house and early hip-hop that saw him open the Jazid Up club and release a series of mixtapes that were an instant hit and now considered cult classics. Mark has now sold well over 100,000 albums worldwide, with the bulk in America.
For his San Francisco Sessions on the luminary OM label and NOW the Session series on Ministry Of Sound UK, Mark decided to show his full range of jackin beats and the result is a master class in mixing, seamlessly taking the mix up and down, combining deep vocals with rolling drum rhythms and upfront electronics, but maintaining a classic house backbone.
Mark will be doing a full world-tour to promote this release, which sees him stopping off in Europe, Australia, Asia, America and of course CANADA! Where he will be playing at his favorite Canadian Afterhours (((STEREO))) for the 4th edition of the infamous MOVE parties. MOVE resident Max Hebert will be setting-up the table for Mark on this one.
In addition to the main event - We also have the always slammin MOVE “pre-party” in the bar which has gained a reputation of it’s own for being a rockin’ party where both the drinks and beats flow and the funky crowd is always having a blast getting down and dirty! Serving up the goods on the wheels of steel, we have local troublemaker and MOVE resident Rob Brown down in the bar with his friend and production partner Leon Louder. There tracks have been licensed to both aforementioned OM compilations and Mark Farina’s new MOS CD, and on this special occasion they are launching there new 12” “The Throwdown Ep” dropping on Slater Hogan and John Larner’s Muzique Boutique label. There will be CD’s to be given out and possibly other goodies – First come first serve! So get there early! For those of you who have been to the previous MOVE’s, you know what to expect! An all around top notch party upstairs and downstairs with great music, great people, a great vibe and ofcourse Stereo’s mindblowing soundsystem! As always, we at the Revival always concentrate on not just giving you what you are used to but try to take it one step further and deliver something familiar yet unique both in musical style and atmosphere.
