...keep up with the new releases? for example today i went to djdownload wanted to check new releases for today, selected prog/tribal, electro house and house and got 72 hits...and that's just for today. i kinda miss "the old days" (like 2,5 years ago) when there was just juno and some other record stores, and they pretty much covered everything. now you have like 20+ download stores + juno and new record stores. i tried two times per week and i couldn't listen to all because my head started hurting. now i'm trying once per day, listening here a little and there a little.. and surely i'm missing some tracks.
what's your technique/thoughts about this?

keep listening to Live Sets. You will get to hear many (prescreened)new tracks.

you'll sound exactly like all the other guys who ripoff others' tracklists...dunno if it's a good idea

listen to those 72 songs, then decide if they are good or not.

sucky part about shopping at multiple online stores is they release tracks at different times, so ive purchased the same track twice a few times.

I think the best way to keep up on releses is to check in daily if possible. Instead of having to sort through 100 plus tracks if you only look once a week or every other week. Also, there is a feature on beatport.com which allows you to add artists/labels/genre's to a cue list which will indicate when there is a new release from that artist or label. It is a bummer when you realize that your favorite artist put out a track 2 months ago and it slipped through the cracks.

Hope this helps out... Keep on searchin!

i'm unable to listen to 72 songs here and 40 songs there and another 57 songs somewhere else every day... my brain will hurt and i will mixup or forget.. :) i also tried some charts but then you end up playing what most of the people play...
purchasing twice really sucks... :D

i guess you're right.. i will have to go through it. i use that feature on beatport and it is helpful but what about all these new artists and labels popping out literally every day? i think it's too much.. you aren't even able to play all these new tracks.. you could do it if you play 3-4 times a week, and every set has 10 new tracks.

you aren't the same guy who produced closer:p

i know exactly what you mean. this is why most dj's just ripoff other's tracklists, its humanly impossible to listen to every new track that comes out. theres just too many producers. this could be a strength to the argument for those who believe the quality of music has gone down because the number of producers have gone up. but its a catch 22 endless cycle: people become producers because they get tired of looking for tracks they like, further adding to the number of new tracks that come out everyday, further making other frustrated dj's become producers.

hopefully, one day frustrated djs just give up dj'ing, or they quit producing after just a few tracks. this would be good in 2 ways, everyone and their dog and brother is not dj'ing, and two, less people make tracks which makes shopping easier.
