I wish people at my work listened to Electro music. When I tell coworkers about the type of music I listen to, I always feel like they just think that I listen to 'Sandstorm' on repeat cause thats the only electro song most people know of.

i work at a warehouse once where my boss was into edm music. i always bring in my trance music to listen to. so one day my boss came over with a cd. he hands it over to me and said since you're into edm i got a treat for you. he hands over and it was a tiesto - isos 3 cd. i thanked him and we talked about the clubs in san francisco and about edm music for about 30 mins until he had to go to a meeting. that was when i was still only 20 so i still couldn't get into 21+ clubs. he was cool about having trance music at the workplace as long as if i keep it low for me to hear it while i was working. a couple of days later he brought in some more music for me. too bad i had to quit that place. my boss was a real cool guy.

Funny thing for me is my boss was actually one of the DJs I looked up to growing up here in the Bay Area.

Supposedly, he owned Classified Records, which was a freestyle label I think in the late 80's early 90's...

Everyone here at work caught on to my secret identity tho, mainly in part that they end up seeing me all raved up when they go out to a club or to a rave.. Ive even run into a few clients out there.

I kinda kept my nightlife a secret, and my response has been and always will be....

"Hey Dave how was your weekend? What did you do?"

"O nothin, just watched the KIDS."

Its a little better than trying to explain the reason you are exhausted is because you were rollin your ass off at 3AM, and didnt get home until about 10 the next day...

But maybe you should take your relationship with your boss a little further, ask if hes ever dropped. lol

Or just call in sick the next day... "Hey, yeah, for some reason, I feel really euphoric today from last night's mental revelations, but I'll be in tomorrow. Thanks so much for understanding!"

I was like oh sh*t, I'm in trouble, he caught me online!!

So he asked me what this website is about. I told him I check it periodically to learn more about the music I like, and events. He was like, "I listen to electronic music too". I didn't believe him, so he was like, "Trust me, I know all about Avalon & Giant, etc...". And everyone around us was like "Ya, he listens to that crap". hahahha! I'm excited, I like him even more now that I can relate to him about something other than work.

This could mean many things for me:

a) If I need to take a day or two off to go to see a DJ out of town, he'll understand.

b) If I come to work exhausted from the previous night or weekend, he'll understand.

c) a raise. ;)

that's funny. I dont know what kind of boss you have, and maybe im just a hard ass, but despite my lifestyle I would never let anyone give me any kind of excuse as to why they come into work tired of their work is slacking. The only understanding i would have is understanding that a person can not still take care of their obligations because they cant control themselves.

So I would be careful, Julia. Because he is aware of the lifestyle that many clubber lead, it could come back to bite you in the ass. Sometimes bosses are really cool and sometimes bosses will use what they know against you to prove why you arent as productive as they want you to be.

Bottom line, dont slack off at all cuz you think he undestands that partying makes you tired and/or cranky on Mondays and Tuesdays. That is not an excuse for poor work ethics.
