Problem With Audacity
View this Thread in Original format
Michael May
I have been using Audacity to record with and it seems like there may be a bug in the software. It will usally happens a couple times thru the mix where it sounds like a cd skipping. It is only a split second when it happens, but it is messing up some of my really good mixes. Anyone else ever have this problem? If you did, how did you solve it?

Rock On,

Audacity is free and open source, it doesn't need to be cracked.

What kind of advice is telling someone their problem is cause they've cracked it and they're a thief right off the bat anyway? Jeeze.

cracked software usually has glitches in it and appear for no reason it sounded like this.

All I'm saying is, why are you even posting in a thread about software that you know so little about, that you don't even know if it was free or not. And then giving him useless advice.

Just to have something to post I guess.

Anyway, end of conversation, I'm out.

maybe you should check my second post einstein. probably the most obvious advice and probably the most useful. still waiting for your input to the thread but again your just rambling.

Ok, my advice is that perhaps there are other programs on his computer running in the background, such as anti-virus, or spyware, or windows disk indexing for a few examples, that should all normally be turned off or not present on a music production machine.

If other programs are taking precedence over his recording it will cause an annoying skipping as audio buffers don't fill properly.

Try recording with another program, even windows sound recorder if you have nothing else. Weather it happens or not with another program will give you some indication of if it's an Audacity problem or not.

Yeah. I tryed to record with Gaage Band (I'm running a G4 Powerbook by the way) and had no problems with it. I am going to delete the software and reinstall it and see what happens with that.

Thanks. Mike

Lmao.

It VERY MUCH WELL DEFINATELY could be your CPU is topping out somehow. I know you're probably a smart guy and kill all running processes other than Audacity when you record a set.

In that case. Do the usual; update drivers, restart, and pray.

If you can, play with the record buffer settings.
