Hi,

Although this isn't 100% yet, I may have won a bid on a nice little apple macbook 2ghz ($100 us (will probably cost me somewhere under $200 canadian)

I've never owned a Mac before, (I have used them in highschool (techlab2000)

i'm sorta wondering how people with macs make music, I know logic is for mac...

I've used fruity for like the last 6 or so years

this is sorta weird for me

any advice on a nice little hobby electronic music making setup for a mac computer (it is os x tiger

you can have some fun with garageband, which comes with the macbook. FL is for windows only. and logic is the mac-daddy suite. it really just depends on what kinda money you want to spend.

Reason may be a good option for you. it's all inclusive, i use it occasionally and am liking it more as time goes on. that being said, i rewire it through FL Studio, so thats no good....Cubase 4 works with macs, but we're talking ~$900 US for that...personally, if i were you, i'd save up for logic...it looks superb

Definatly try Logic 7...its the one i use for mac and the best there is in imo :)

Wait, you're paying HOW much?

Logic Express + Reason will get you a very long way to start...

A flavor of cubase is also good, but in terms of Maclike programs logic is hard to beat. It helps that Apple bought Emagic, so the stability and performance is tough to beat on any platform.

Add instruments and fx as you develop your skills & needs.

It's true that there aren't nearly as many tools for the mac as pc, (sweeping generalization ahead!) The ones that are on both platforms are generally the pick of the crop, ones that are mac only are either equivalent to other pc only tools, and almost without fail are of exceptional quality.

Apple has less warez, so it can appear to be more expensive than a windows based studio. If you look at real prices though things are around the same...

Wait, $100 for a macbook!? Are you sure that you're not being swindled?

That does sound a little far-fetched. You know what they say, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
