First horror movie I ever saw. I was like 7 y/o and already infatuated with the genre. The 'gore' factor didn't disturb me at the time...I hope :nervous: A real classic cult movie *thumbs up*

Yes! A great horror classic.. i still like it, more than 2 decades later from the first time i've seen it. I used to like the original version of the movie as well, from the 1950s i think.. but nowadays both look pretty ridiculous and even more so for those who can't watch movies beyond the fx and such.

A few quality quotes from Carpenter's movie:

[Norris' head grows legs and tries to walk away]
Palmer: You gotta be ing kidding.

[Thing roars and screams]
MacReady: Yeah, you too!

Wow, I actually still remember the first time I saw this. A true classic.

It stands apart from other "horror" films simply because the central theme is not Man vs. Alien, it's Man v. Man

Throughout the entire movie the emphasis is on "who you can trust and who you can't trust".

I think that aspect is something that is rarely achieved in films today ,especially horror films. I love the ending of this movie.
