I figured out a way to turn a simple loop into something really bizarre. Here are a few examples:
Loop 1
Loop 2
Orb Loop
It's really easy to do. All you need is a loop or sound, a basic sampler, and a sequencer. Map the loop to one of the notes on the sampler. Now draw that note into your sequencer a bunch of times (maybe sixteen or thirty-two) in a row at a really small length. I've found that 1/128th notes work very well. If your sequencer only goes down to 1/64th notes, it may have an option to "scale down" the sequence so that you can actually get down to 1/128th and further.
In Reason, which is what I used, you right-click on the notes you have drawn in, select "Change Events...", click "*2" on the "Scale Tempo" area, click "Apply," and...
You've got yourself some 1/128 notes. Play around with the amp envelope attack and release on the sampler to get the sound you want.
This technique can also give a really "robotic" quality to speech or vocals, all without using anything more than a sampler:

Here's another variation for vocals:
Vocal Effect
I did this by using 1/64th notes and gradually increasing the release on the sampler while decreasing the pitch. |

I'm gonna try this. Thanks for the tips. Been wanting to create that robotic effect you have on vocals.
Thanks again |

i think you can get the same effect by using a delay, which makes sense since you give it that fast delay effect when playing the loop or sample over and over very close to each other like how you did with the 1/128th BUT, with your method, there is more control as to what you want to do. :) good job. and those examples sound nice. |

Yeah, you can get a similar effect using a delay with a really short time. Cool. :) |

Mr Jive,
i am trying to follow your tutorial in Reason and was having some difficulty reproducting the effects on the vocals. In the second vocal effect are all the notes 1/64th.Also did you manually modulate the release and pitch parameters or did you do it using a lfo. Would it be possible for you to upload some screenshots or reason files.Once again thanks for a great tutorial.

The first half-bar of notes consists of sixteenth notes and the rest consists of sixty-fourth notes. The release and pitch were modulated manually. Here are the RNS file and WAV file:

And here is a screenshot as a guide to those of you using other sequencers:
