Help,
Coming to LA for new year and i am looking for the best joints for house music....
is there certain clubs bars or cafe that specialise in house?
being from london it is everywhere but it doesnt seem so much in LA
if any of you could chuck me some tips where to/ where NOT to go that would help!! |

Los Angeles (or more specifically Hollywood) has so many house nights you'll never run out :p
But if you'll be here for New Year's I suggest getting pre-sale tickets for Sander K and Steve Lawler on December 30 at The Vanguard as well as pre-sales for Sasha & Digweed w/ Jimmy Van M on December 31. Check here for more info. Pre-sales for these 2 go on sale Wednesday at noon, which is Wednesday night, around 8 I believe, for you. |

cheers for that i have actually been keeping an eye on the DEEP @ vangaurd for NYE i have been told now its the GIANT MAXIMUS event now?
is that instead do you know?
also do you think the tickets for GIANT will seel out by the 26th December as we dont arrive until then?
do ya reckon you could chunk a couple of club/bar names in hollywood so i could have a look?

Well here's the thing, DEEP on December 31 will be at The Vanguard, Giant Maximus on December 31 is going to be an outdoor event in downtown Los Angeles. So essentially, they're two different events. However, Giant ALSO has they're regular Saturday night at The Vanguard on the 30th with Steve Lawler. As far as tickets being sold out, I'm not sure. December 26th is a long time to wait with pre-sales coming in two days. You might, however, be able to get tickets for DEEP on NYE later in December, not too sure.
It's hard to say which clubs or bars to go to this far in advance, but the regular clubs we all go to are The Vanguard, Spundae, and Avalon. These all happen on Saturday's, however, and because the 30th will be the day before New Year's they will ALL have something to offer. In terms of small clubs or bars, King King tends to have some great house on Friday nights, and I know there are plenty more that happen during the week I just can't put my finger on any of them now. My advice to you would just be to check back here pretty frequently :p
Also, everything here (clubs, bars, etc...) are 21+. That includes Giant Maximus, The Vanguard, DEEP, Spundae...EVERYTHING is 21 and over. |

yea there is eight of us all 21 - 26 from london, we all have done the ibiza and england and goa tours we have all clubbed around the world but havent touched on the US
Ben watt from Buzzin' Fly Records is a man i admire and we follow him round london!!
then i looked and he's on the line up for DEEP!
now i see this GIANT event and its decision decision
sorry to keep on, do you know what sort of times they stop letting people into the GIANT or DEEP and are they too far apart to do both? |

Well...I would say they're too far apart to do both. They probably start at the same time and I think DEEP will be over by 4am as The Vanguard can't stay open that late. Supposedly Giant will be going until 8am but I'm pretty sure you won't be able to get in past midnight. |

Also, on New Year's Eve, Paul Van Dyk along with Jerry Bonham & Bamaca, Deep Dish, Marco V and Christopher Lawrence will be spinning from 7:30p.m. to 4:30 a.m. at the Sports Arena in LA.
Ticekts for "Together as One" are on sale now through tickemaster and groove tickets. The sports arena can hold approx 30,000 people. They will have several stages setup as well.
Personally, I loved Monster Massive at the Sports Arena and am very excited to go back as it is also sponsored by Insomniac.

i fort i had a tough choice with just DEEP Vs. GIANT, now you have chucked in this TOGETHER AS ONE event!!

thanks for confusing me even more i cant be in three places at once!! tho i will definatly be going Steve Lawler on 30th DEC unless there is any over event on to compete!!
