Hi guys, its been a while since I posted on here, Ive been working on a remix of Depeche Mode's Policy of Truth.

It is work in progress, but would like to know what you think, so far - otherwise I will never get to the finished article!

Thanks in advance for your time and opinions.

Im sure none of you would be the excellent producers you are today without feedback from your fellow TA members (Major a**e licking statement)

Some constructive feedback would be really great and educational on my road to becoming a reputable TA member ;)

Thanks again guys,

TMP

listening now:

like the intro, the fx and percussion

base sounds a bit urgent

needs something else to make it driving

into break now, like the low filtered loop, the riff you use sounds sweet

then another comes in, quite annoying sounding, sounds abit 1997,

drop is ok, base key changes sounds trash though, needs some more sub melodys there

i think part of the problem is the synths you used are quite suble so the key changes in the baseline need to be subtle aswell

needs to be an alround deeper sound, think about some low pitched fx's or summit

good luck mate

Thanks H,

Dont quite know what you mean about the bass being 'urgent'?

Obviously this is a remix, so the keys are already part of the original.
Sorry you dont like the 2nd melody sound, again, I did try and make the whole track sound subtle as you said.

Thanks for taking the time out my friend,

Anymore?

sounds too... i don't know how to say... "fairy"

i think the melody has potential but the bassline isnt so good and the levels arent fantastic (leads are too lound).

The subtle melodies are fine, they make a rich sound altogether - though drop the volume of the lead sound a bit.

But....... because the melodies are subtle the track lacks something, and its a decent bassline.

If you have subtle simple elements to a track you need one very strong rhythmic element coming through. The drive of this sort of track should come from a bassline with good rhythm, allowing the melodies to flow around it.

I used to use standard off beat basslines and simple repetative bass notes in one pattern. Then I changed to making the bass drive the track instead of the kick and percussions and my productions improved.

Give it a try, hope I've helped a bit.
