alright people I've been wanting to put this thread for long time!!
I've been on this forum for not so long, but I've been visiting the TA forums for looong time now. There is always something that I noticed here, and that is everyone's opinion of "Gino's". I agree with most you about their attitudes and stuff, and sometimes they really piss me off too, But are they all the same?? if u see me at at Guv or some other places, you'll think Iam just like them. But do you know me?so what if I am like dressed in certain ways, or I have certain hair style?? I can tell you this that I have no problem with ravers or anybody, I have respect for everyone, I just wished we could all get along and have fun thats all.
Isn't trance music about peace and love?? I've always loved this music for as long as I can remember!!so am I different from all u guys??
Lets not judge bylook, lets judge by personality?
I wonder if there are people in europe or anywhere called Gino's??or is it just Canada?maybe this is a issue everywhere??!!!
well thats all I have to say about this whole Gino thing!!
I just like to be honest thats all.so let me know what you think :) :) |

Yea well..
It's more about the gino 'attitude' than the look - but, it just so happens that a vast majority with the look carry the attitude.
That is all.
...this is not to say that certain ravers aren't full of attitude.. I know of times I've walked into stores that 'ravers' worked and I wasn't in exactly 'rave' worthy clothes so they might have thought I was a 'gino' and I got attitude... Kind of funny really.. haha

well this "gino" thing is north american..a lot of europeans dont know about this...but mostly gino's are about attitude, some of them are cool though, it all depends on the people they are around with...
lol swampz u dress like a "gino" often..ya i know, i do sometimes, i cant wear the same stuff all the time :clown: |

I think that the stereotype comes from what the whole "RAVE" scene was initially about. It was "ANTI" commercialism..and against the whole "pop-culture" and mainstream scene. Now most of what GINO'S and the stuff they listen to seems to be POP-CULTURE & mainstream stuff...hence the hatred of ravers towards GINO's. Now the term GINO is actually a GTA thing...since it was generally associated with the ITALIAN community in Toronto and surrounding areas. However the term is used in a broader sense now...since it doesn't matter what background u are...u can still be a GINO by engaging in their lifestyle...eg. dresscode (Diesel, Kappa, *ing* INVICTA), music taste (Euro, Freestyle, Gino Rock=Bon Jovi) I know many Persians actaully that are considered GINO's, portuguese, greek, latino's, and even some asians. :conf:
But I've come to the conclusion that the line and defintion is too broad to use internationally. I sometimes dress what is considered to be "GINO style" here in Toronto, yet I'm one of the biggest Trance-headz u'll ever meet...I mean that's what I love to spin for heaven's sake. It's funny because in Europe where the whole TRANCE scene originated...alot of them dress the way I do, fashionable... which, I consider it to be UK style. I don't wear the SUPER-flared pants.. and for anyone who does..there's absolutley nothing wrong with that either... it doesn't mean that they're more of a TRANCE lover than I am because of it. I love Trance & like some Techno, DnB, house, and other forms of electronica as well. I think that the older I've gotten, the more open I've become to changing the way I dress, act and see things.
I hate stereotypes and think that even in our own underground culture there are many people who are still narrow minded to use dresscode/fashion, and looks to associate one's musical taste.
Just don't ever let me catch u wearing a F****** INVICTA bag or KAPPA pants...or I'll not only kill u... but castrate u. :whip::whip: |

I wonder why that is, what is up with the attitude?? I personally hate their those attitude's they have toward people, but again there is always bad and good everywhere!!
like I know alot of "Gino's" I asked them whats their problem with ravers? and all they say is "Ravers have no class"!!
I dont agree with that at all. Another thing is they all think people who go to raves are all about drugs, and there is no real love for the music!! I dont believe that myself, and I totally disagree.
But again they arent about music themselves either, they go to these places to pick up girls, and music is the last thing in their minds!!
so I think there is alot of stereotyping going on on both sides. |

HEH - yeah - I know ravers that have several orders of magnitude greater attitude problems than the most SUPER of all SUPER CoKEd out peeps... its rather sad... peeps that rely on degrading others to make theirselves feel better....
sure I have made past comments... but that is dislike for that masoginistic, patriarchal sorta attitude... not the peeps specifically. Let's not have that disc.
All I am thinking is that people that rely on belitting others - for whatever means of self-gratification are the worst examples of humanity... humanity is caring anf tolerenace... even for those you really HATE!!! ...or believe you do.

Hahaha, no there's no one in Europe that calls themselves "Gino" unless they live in Italy and that's their real, first name.
But seriously, I dress like a gino, I wear flared pants too lol... but what's important is my attitude (not arrogant) and the music I like (trance, progressive house, some d n'b... not the stuff they play on Z103). |

when u do see me you might see me and think a "yuppie". But other times I look like a "Gino Style" with gelled hair. LOOK R DECIEVING. When I went to high-school me and my friends were either french-canadian, polish, gernman, portuguise, or Italian and Cro. All of the people we fought with called us "Gino's". WE DIDN't look like it, it was just a couple of us were italian and had the attitude. But as for what we listened to. MY GROUP OF FRIENDS THEN AND TODAY R VERY MUSICALLY EDUCATED. What that means is some were into trance, some in house, other's in Alternative. But we all apriciated good music. and each other's style of music. I may look like a "yuppies" with the button up kennith cole dress shirt and Next pants but I am a working man. NEVER JUDGE A PERSON BY WHAT THEY WEAR. :whip: :whip: :whip: :whip: SO I DON'T DRESS LIKE THE CANDY KID RAVER'S FROM Sundisenal in the uk. That does not mean I don't like GOOD MUSIC. I HATE POP. DON"T we all. but the truly wise ones can go futher and KNOW THE DIFFERENCE. DO U KNOW WHAT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOOD MUSIC AND BAD E IS?? I do. The big old bear knows what he believes in, and hopes that most of the birds r walking with him.

First of all, I dress whatI feel is in STYLE, HIP and looks good! Now whether it GIN(A) or raver it doesn't really matter to me.
I'm an INDIVIDUAL that loves PROGRESSIVE and TRANCE. Hiphop and gino beats don't do anything for me. I've never been into that music.
About the way you dress STYLES.. AMAZING!
Attitudes.. I dislike GINO clubs b/c I HATE being hit on in clubs. I also hate the attitude GINO's have toward women. It's degrading and WRONG! They treat thier woman horribly!
But I'm generalizing! SORRY! I do not have anything against anyone until they either hurt someone or hurt me.
TRANCE is about UNITE and the sooner everyone realizes this the BETTER!

Now before some of you jump on me and go all nuts I'm saying what is below talking about a vast majority of either group, it is not ALL-ENCOMPASSING... heh.. ok:
The 'gino' side tends to have a dislike of 'ravers' because they know how to dance
The 'raver' side tends to have a disklike of ginos because a lot of them are surrounded by girls.. just because that's their 'clique' and all that..
'Ginos' diss the way 'ravers'' dress even though that 'raver''s pants may cost more than the whole 'Ginos'' ensemble.
The point is that both are at opposite ends of the spectrum party-wise, with one group tending to be there for the music and the other tending to be there more for the party/girls... There's nothing wrong with either and I know parties on both sides who are guilty of being arrogant and closed-minded... I have different groups of friends - and I party with both - but finding both groups together at the same party is not something that happens often for the reasons specified at the beginning of this paragraph.
Speaking of invicta bags... For OAC I went to a high school that was about 80% italian.. you get used to all that..lol.. and there's nothing wrong with Euro.. I ran a Eurodance/Freestyle FTP site for 2 years before I started TA... Yes, 80% of the music in that genre is nothing special but some of the stuff is pretty good if you looked hard enough |

Gino,Rocker,Raver,skater...whatever...
******,gook,polak,wop,
always the same thing over and over.....
IT IS NOT THE "GROUP" u are part of that makes u a good or bad person.
It is you attitude towards life and everyone else around you. I bet that everyone of you has met a Gino or so called bad ass rocker who when u got to know closer was as Nice as a fellow TA. SO I say let's not discriminate against anyone, let people who like Kappa wear Kappa, let's drop all the stereotyping and talk about one thing we are on this board for:
TRANCE MUSIC
P.S: as always please try to remember everyone is entitled to their own opinion
PEACE Y'ALL |
