The most brilliant DJ you've never heard of

Does anyone remember a DJ called Jason Porter? I saw him a few times in the early/mid 90s. He was extremely obscure and NO ONE knew about him, but I have always considered him by far the best DJ I'd ever heard. He'd weave together mixes of the most amazing obscure progressive and trance tracks which you simply could not hear anywhere else, throwing in bits of movie soundtracks and even video game music here and there. His sets honestly changed mine and my mates' lives.
Does ANYONE remember this guy? He played sometimes in America but more often the UK and around the meditteranean...
After so many years he had become a dull memory when I found an old studio mix of his on ebay -- I practically hit the CEILING. Bought it immediately of course. I've listened to it at least 20 times in the last 3 days. It's a PERFECT representation of his ~94 era sets (the CD says July 94 on it).
I've uploaded it so you all can experience a glimpse of this tragically forgotten DJ.

See what a shame it is this guy is so obscure? I can assure you all that every one of his live shows I went to was to the standard of that mp3... if not beyond... EVERY one.
I love the FF6 theme (figured there would be some fans of that game here:). When I first heard him play it live in mid-94, I had no idea what it was of course, as the game was only out in Japan at the time... finally must have been 3 years later I played the game and when that tune came on it just blew my mind clear out of the galaxy :wtf: I feel its a shame he had to lay that cheesy beat underneath it though as someone here just said. Should have let it stand on its own, but oh well.
I want IDs just as badly as you all! The CD didn't come with a tracklisting. Several of them are probably by Porter himself and may even be vinyl one-offs, so a complete tracklisting will probably never be possible, however several of the tunes were fairly well known in the mid 90s so should be ID-able. I have no idea about any of them, though :sadgreen: |
