TIESTO.... CONFIRMED (New Date - Dec 14) [18+] (pg. 3)

On a Thursday the trolley will stop running at midnight but will start up again a little after seven the next morning. There are hotels in San Ysidro in what I consider walking distance, but depending on the demographics of your group you might disagree. There are several motels not far past the final trolley stop that won't be full...

I don't remember...how strict are they with weed in Mexico?

Oh no, you don't want to be caught with that or anything else once you're across the border. They really don't take kindly to weed or what have you. They can be really tough on you (take you to their lovely jail) or they can just ask for some $$$ and I don't mean like $20.00 either. It all depends on who busts you and what mood they're in. :thepirate

Shuni, can we stay at your place? :D Yo soy pocha in case you're wondering. ;)

It's that time again. It's WOODY's GUIDE TO PARTING IN MEXICO. Read it, and if you have any questions, just ask.

:D

THIS EVENT IS ALL AGES
Yeap! This event is ALL AGES! But remember, legal drinking age in Mexico is 18.

MEXICAN LAW
Even though Mexico has laws similar to the USA, US LAWS do not apply there. The rule of thumb is, IF IT'S ILLEGAL IN THE USA, IT'S PROBABLY ILLEGAL IN MEXICO. Respect Mexico's laws, you don't want to get thrown into a Mexican jail.

ID, PASSPORT, US IMMIGRATION
Since this event is all ages, you won't need an ID at the venue. However, to cross the border back, you must be a US Citizen, have a US Passport, or have a valid Visa such as a "Green Card." If you are a US Citizen, US Customs will scan your ID upon entrance into the US. If you have a RESIDENT ALIEN CARD aka "Green Card," Customs will scan the Visa. You can also use a valid passport if you have one. Expect to get searched upon entrance to the USA.

DRUGS & ALCOHOL, & COMING HOME DRUNK
Whatever you do, DO NOT BRING ANY DRUGS INTO MEXICO! THEY ARE ILLEGAL. If Mexican Police busts you with any drugs, regardless of the quantity being small or big, they will be HARD on you. Mexican Police does not tolerate drugs or weapons. They will take you to jail even if you have just a small joint. YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO TO A MEXICAN JAIL. They are much, much, much worse than US Jails. Legal drinking age in Mexico is 18. If you get wasted in Mexico, and plan to cross the border into the US, good en luck! The moment you see the US Customs officer, US LAWS apply. That means, if you're drunk and you're 18-20, you'll probably get locked up. It also means that if you're drunk and you're driving back, the moment US Customs determines you're drunk, they will confiscate your vehicle and give you a DUI. Walking across the border drunk is different. If US Customs determines you're drunk, they will arrest you and put you in DETOX. They will also fine you.

MEXICAN IMMIGRATION, SEARCH & SEIZURE
Just like the US Customs, Mexican Immigration will do random searches. If you walk across the border, rarely will they do it. But, if you DRIVE into Mexico, be careful. There's a STOPLIGHT on the border, if you get a GREEN light means you're clear to go. If you get a RED light, it means STOP and you will get searched.

PARKING
The best thing is to park on the US side of the border, and walk across the border. There's plenty of parking lots that charge $8-$15 a day. Just take the "LAST US EXIT" and find the best lot that suits you. I park on the one directly straight off the exit as it has it's own entrance into Mexico. The venue should be walking distance from the border. Maybe Shuni or Dancing-Clown can get us a map. I will contact my friends in TJ and see if they'll get us one.

HOTEL
If you plan on getting trashed, get a hotel in Mexico. If you plan on being sober by the end of the show, just get one in the US. There's plenty of hotels on both sides of the border.

MONEY
Don't worry about exchanging your money for Mexican currency. US Dollars are valid everywhere in BAJA! The way it works is like this. If a beer costs $30 pesos, that means it's $3 dollars. The rate exchange is around $11 pesos to a dollar. But to make it easier, most people round it off to $10 pesos to a dollar.

SPANISH
Ha! You shouldn't have a problem communicating with people. In TJ younger people either speak or understand English. Most bars hire English-speaking staff.

TIPPING
Most bar staff in Mexico make a living off tipping. Tip well and you'll get treated EXTRA WELL. Most venues in TJ have waiters/waitresses. Stick to your waiter, tip well, and they will get you almost ANYTHING you need. There's been times when I was hungry and I sent my waiter for Tacos. They'll do it if you ask & tip nicely. They've done other stuff for me that I can't even post here.

I disagree with this on two points. One, they recently passed legislation in Mexico legalizing personal usage ammounts of drugs, such as a couple joints. And even before this law was passed, getting caught with a joint as an American meant shelling over fourty or fifty bucks. And you'd have to be pretty wanton to get caught smoking a joint at Tiesto. Two, I'm under tweny-one and I walk back accross the border completely wasted all the time, they just glance at my ID and wave their arms as I stumble through.

I thought it was cool to drink alcohol in the streets of Rosarito as long as you don't have glass but I was wrong. (I thought it was like Puerto Villarta)

They threw me in a van w/ a bum...I took a leak in the corner of that van...they moved the van...a gang from East LA got into a fight in the streets...they threw them in the van and sprayed pepper spray in the van...I thought I was gonna die!...threw me in another van...took me to the station's cell...it was either someone had to bail you out for like 25 bucks or you stayed there for 24 hours.

I tried to blend in and use the name Miguel...while my buddy was trying to get Michael out...finally they brought him to the cell to point me out...he's like, "You fu@%in idiot, why would you tell em your name is Miguel?"

Nice experience...ended up going back to Papas n Bear at like 5 AM after I got out.

Trying to avoid those sort of "experiences" this time!

Oh how sweet of you! Thanks, but I was just sorta messin with you. Not exactly sure yet on how long we're staying. Maybe get alittle rest some where after partying, depends on KarenLuvs2party's schedule.

they aren't strict at all about weed. you should be fine taking it across the border because you just walk through this gate and no one moniters you, but i would not bring any illegal substances back to the US just to be safe.

Pat downs @ the venue?

Dancing-Clown
There weren't any for Sandra Collins...

Hey am from san diego and would love to meet up with some people in US and walk over the border. Seeing how I would have to go alone if not and that would be lame. Let me know more or where to meet.
