For those who get promo/pre-release tracks from record labels... (pg. 2)

If your on a web radio, the chances are you wont get much reaction from labels because almost everyone has a web radio show these days. If you are on FM radio you have more chances of getting on a list.

Some labels have online forms you can fill out to request you be added to their promo list, like John 00 Flemming's label:

good luck. ;)

Yeah I've heard that too - a bit strange, seeing as you have a worldwide audience rather than perhaps a few thousand, if you're on an FM station in a smaller city.

I didn't really think I'd have a chance with the radio slot alone, but maybe with the lala residency as well...

my radio show is on a bit of a hiatus until i get my inspiration back again to do it....

its been down for a fair while, think i might pump it back up come december and make a real crack of it again... the guests are sitting back waiting in the pipelines :)

anything i can do to help in the way of guests, more then happy to assist kittn

I may well take you up on that offer. ;)

The show is fortnightly atm, but I'm not going to know until I get into it if I really have the time to support it that often. I can see that having some guest sets up the sleeve could be very helpful.

does your show have a title?

No, and I just realised this. Suggestions? *braces for silliness*

True, but with FM, you catch general public and people who are not likely to listen to specialised internet radio.

my general impression is that you'll have to give away a kidney, part of liver, and your firstborn to be on bedrock records promo list.... :toothless

I might pass on that one then.

Slight reschedule on the show, too. There was some confusion as to whether we were starting in Week One or Week Two, so my first show is actually on the 9th of December. Which is scary, I'll have to get organised very quickly!

not sure you'd particularly want to be these days anyway tachyon ;)

imo with digital downloads forcing labels to release things a hell of a lot quicker these days the idea of that hot "promo" is pretty much obselete. Which i don't think is a bad thing at all. It's now less about getting the tracks that no-one else can get, but about searching harder for something more interesting than the next DJ.
kittn
Oh I do agree.

It's the possibility of getting free music that really appeals. :tongue2

absolutely! come on... join the dark side *evil laugh*

so what are you calling the show? A State of Kittn (ASOK)?
kittn
Nah, good idea though. I think someone else was going to call their slot "A State of Disappointment". :stongue:

I considered Saturday Night Liv (because that's my name) but the time slot isn't really late enough to warrant it...
