Does anybody hike? I hike along most of the traprock ridges in Connecticut, and along parts of the appalachian trail. Some photos-

I love hiking and backpacking, camping and fishing. As a kid, I spent quite a bit of time in Greenland and we'd hike, bike, or ski everywhere. So so beautiful. I hiked to the top of Mount Whitney my first summer in the US. In this country, most of my hikes have been in Lassan Volcanic National Park (to the top of Mount Lassan which wasn't really a strenuous trek at all but cool to look across at Mount Shasta), the Sierras, or up around Flagstaff and Sedona. Most of our field work involves hiking. When you're up about 13000 feet looking out on the world which has not yet been altered by man, oh oh oh so glorious!

Nice pics, by the way.

Big fan of hiking.. do it every year. Thus far longest trek has been a 115K, 10 Day hike through the Canadian rockies taking what we know as the 'North' route.

Hiking ftw.

i like hiking at the mall.

:p

I actually really enjoy hiking and camping, but south florida isn't really the best place for that. i've been on a few crazy outings with my father in my early teen years. hiked mt. fugi in japan, hiked the grand canyon in az twice, rock climbing/hiking in yosemite in cali. i really miss the mountains and cold weather. i think u shouldn't camp unless it's up in the mountains and cold so u can snuggle up in your sleeping bag and wake up and be freezing and make hot coffee.

mmm!!

i'm actually really hoping to some day get a group of friends together on a trip to yosemite in cali and do that again. it is the most breathtaking place ever and i think it would be cool to do that as an adult with friends (or a boyfriend).

either yosemite, or lake tahoe. never been, but i've watched several specials about it on discovery and travel channel and i think it would be sick to go there in the winter and rent a cabin.

Yosemite looks badass, have a good trip!... been a lot of places, but haven't hiked much in the US..

I've done the canadian rockies, the andes and the himalayas.

I've only really skied in the american rockies, (new mexico and par city)

I've always wanted to do some real hiking on some rugged terrain. Havn't done anything remarkably memorable except one time I climbed this mtn in Okinawa and when I got to the top it was so foggy I couldnt see more than ten feet around me. I took some pics but all you see everywhere is thick white fog. was a sun hike but kind of short.
Hopefully before I'm old and inebriated I'll have the oppurtunity to hike a long disance like say the appalachian mtns.
always down for a good hump.:stongue:

hiked a few ridges out in park city and snowbird to hit some fresh powder, will probably hike some of the tahoe areas in kirkwood for some fresh runs as well.

think the big trip will happen late 07-08 for some Whistler/Blackcomb back country hiking....all for the love of powder!

Whistler is sick. my cousin goes there every year and has a timeshare with a cabin i think. he showed me pictures from his last trip and all i could say was "wow" every 2 seconds.

yea its a toss up between colorado for 2 weeks or vancouver bc for 1 week in 07-08. Then i think I've hit all the major resorts in NA, Utah, Tahoe, Oregon for Mt Hood Meadows, Colorado and/or Whistler...probably the only one would be Tremblant up in CA.

I love to hike and backpack - kinda why I moved out here in the first place. :)

Pictures from King's Lake hike in Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, Labor Day weekend '06:

If anyone's in Colorado and wants to take a stroll next spring/summer, I'll be here. :) VIVA LA MOUNTAINS!

I used to go hiking a lot, but it's quite a drive to get anywhere remotely interesting now. :(
