Searching for the perfect live controller

so i've been moving from vinyl to live over the last couple months and have been gigging with ableton hooked into a mixer and a behringer rotary controller.

however, i am also starting to move to ableton for production, and I'm interested in using one controller for all my production and DJing. I don't do a lot of effects when I DJ, just a little here and there, and I mostly DJ with careful eqing, thoughtful layering, selection, and phrasematching.

Recently I have been using a Korg Kontrol49 as both a production equipment, that is as a keyboard and synth controller and as controller for DJing with ableton. I have found it to be extremely nice, I love the feel of everything and have developed a natural method with it. Also it's a sexy piece of electronics.

My question is, should I buy the Kontrol49, or the microkontrol (i don't know if i can handle the minikeys), or maybe something like the novation remote 37sl

Given my projected usage of the device, do you have any recommendations/preferences?

Thanks.

for me it's XBoard 49 by Emu all the way:)

The thing is, I need several faders to mix several tracks in ableton at once. I also like that the kontrol49 has sample pads, which I often map to things like eq kills and device on/off

I use the rotary controllers for mixing...( i like it lots better )

plus I do sometimes map the mod wheel to master volume or crossfader...

and as for sample pads...I just use one octave of the keys for that...or even more...

with 49 keys if you use half of them for loops you still have enough keys to put an improvised melody over the top of your set...I love my xboard! :)

Anyone know if this is ?

Maybe I should be asking in the DJ booth, but the original point of the thread was also to find a MIDI controller/keyboard for producing.

edit: to the other part of your question (which i kinda overread)...
if i was you i would use two different devices for midikeyboard (production) and djing with live.
