When one of your heavy metal guitar playing buddies asks you to let him jam along with his guitar while your mixing, tell him no!! I can't hear right now, and my ears won't stop ringing. All I kept hoping for was for his amp to fry so it would come to an end! Needless to say, he had alot more fun then I did. He asked me if we could do it again next weekend, and I finally convinced him that if he really liked the music, we should consider buying some software, and we'll do some guitar stuff with that by producing our own stuff. Thank God it worked. I did not want to have to go thru what I went thru tonight again.
Well, I'm gonna try to get some sleep if my ears will stop ringing.
Rock On,

| My friend brings his guitar over while i spin all the time. However, we do things a little differently. I patch him into my audio interface along with my record output from the mixer. I record his guitar and my set to separate tracks. I give him a pair of headphones and a mix of my set and his guitar input and let him rock out. There is no amp involved and only he can hear his guitar. after the set we will listen back to it and he throws down some good riffs over breakdowns and throughout the set. plus it gives me some great guitar samples. so next time he asks, just tell him that you need to focus on your mix and he needs to focus on his guitar and headphones are the way to go. |
