Hey Tom, sorry you had such a bad experience at the door. Had I seen you, I would've brought you in with me. I got there at 1am and waited about 15 minutes to get in only because they had to hold the door for a little while. Unfortunately, last night was a complete mob scene. GhB and I have been to Cielo 20+ times and have never experienced chaos at the door like that.

The main issue was management never kicked out the people from the SMUT launch party. They were already at capacity when they started letting people in for the Balance party at 12:30. The only ones getting in at that point either had connections, were with lots of girls, or were greasing the bouncers.

A friend that works at Cielo said they've only had 2 nights in the past few months that have been that packed. One was Trentemoller, and the other was Behrouz. Normally, the door policy is pretty reasonable. Management's mistake was double booking 2 big parties on a Friday night. There wasn't much the door people could do. Even those who wanted to buy tables were out of luck. Everything was sold out.

How was Van M?

Jimmy Van M played a remarkably well paced and thumping prog set. He started peaking at 3am, playing some melodic balearic tunes. Sorry I couldn't trainspot. Desyn - I was surprised he wasn't better. He played very techy but he didn't seem to find his groove (in my opinion) Jimmy and Desyn tag teamed the night - they alternated about once an hour. I got there with a bunch of pretty girls and they let me right in :toothless

Both Jimmy and Desyn were great, but Jimmy played better of the two. One exception though was when I walked in he dropped Moby - Go (Trentemoller Remix), which I laughed about and text messaged to GhB. I have now heard it at 4 out of the last 5 parties I've been too, and we didn't even go out last weekend!

I've never been that great at trainspotting progressive house tracks, especially since I haven't listened to anything new recently. As avikonen said though, it was well paced and thumping and ooohhh so yummy on the Cielo sound system. I liked that Jimmy and Desyn traded off every hour, but yeah, Desyn didn't really have his groove going. Maybe he was holding back since it was Jimmy's night. He wasn't by any means 'bad' just not as fun and interesting as we've seen him before. The last track of the night was Harold Faltermeyer - Axel F but I'm not sure which remix, maybe Crazy Frog.

Actually, most of the people I know made it in last night. avikonen and his sexy entourage lol, trance@CU, vtec, lust-e, sunshine79, my college buddy who won her tickets on Rhythmism, some old pals from the Sasha and Digweed days, and Silverbull (not a friend just someone I recognized haha).

It was a great night though a little too packed. I wouldn't hesitate to see JvM headline again. He certainly didn't bore me, but I'm biased. Despite all these other trendy genres like electro and minimal, progressive house is still my favorite, and it's perfect on a sound sytem like Cielo's.

How can they advertise a party, tell everyone it's going to start after 12, then let no General Admission people in after 11:30. Me & and friend were 3rd on line to get in at 11:30. We waited for about 2 hours. Bouncers walked up and down the line selecting pretty girls to let inside. At around 1am the 2 guys in front of me asked when they would be let inside, and the bouncer tells them, probably not for another 2 hours. It's not like this was some huge event that sold out. We gave up and went to drum & bass party at Love at like 1:30.

It's sad to see places that bring talent stoop to such low standards. I heard the same thing happened for Trentemoller a few weeks ago.

dude, i must have been right behind you guys freezing as well in line. i should have done my homework, didn't know Cielo was small. waited from 12:30 to 1:30 then left. on the bright side i did see Van Wilder walk by at one point.

Cielo's line is by far the worst in NY. If you don't plan on going with chicks you better get there super early and even then your not guaranteed to get in. Lucky for me I had a media pass thanks to Ruben or I would have been in the same boat as you Tom.

I have learned long ago that going to Cielo is worth doing VIP style only. Besides, if there are 4 of you going drinking anyway, then entrance plus drinks will run you for the night at same price range as getting your own couch for 4 people plus a bottle with juices that comes out to same total but you are not waiting inline or dealing with any other bull. :conf:

Any random Friday night I've tried to go there, I was turned away at the door.

ya when i went there for fanciulli, they made me and my friend wait outside for 30 mins while they let all these random heads in no problem. we were like ok, this is really a snobby club. but ya the staff there def does suck. i used to love the place now i barely ever wanna go back cuz of the robbing incident that happend that i wont get into and the sketchy business that goes on at the line in there. def watch out there.

every NYC night club staff basically does their best at creating their own circus with the red ropes.

most recent fun-time ride was at the ID check point in line to get into Crobar this past Summer and both bouncers wanting me off the line because I had white linen shorts to my ankle and I simply rolled down my pants and I was let in the club. I found that whole hopeless hustle worthless because I rolled my pants back up once inside the club.
