Probably not myself (I'm a PC > Console fan) but I definitely see the fun factor from the reviews.

Yeah same, I have an xbox but I love my pc over all others. I guess I will just see how the wii turns out, I think I would get over the controllers quite quickly and the standard controller looks very dicky and poor.

I will wait and see, I don't really understand the mentality of the fanboys who queue up for hours to be the first to get these consoles... Imagine being someone who queued up to get an atari jaguar or sega dreamcast.

Untill there isnt an overnight queue infront of every store the night they get they're shipment, im not getting one.

I'm considering getting one just because of the price tag while I wait for the PS3 to be cheaper, and because the Wii will allow us to play some retro games that I miss very much from the NES, SNES, Sega Genesis and Gamecube systems.

Super Mario Bros. 2 & 3 all the way bitches!!!!!!

you can play those games pretty much anywhere, i laugh at everyone who is buying into Nintendo using OMG Play our old school games as a marketing line to draw people in. Fact is those consoles and games have been emulated for YEARS now, all nintendo is doing is installing an emulator into their loading deck, and making those 'roms' available for DL' to the HD based Wii.

You can pretty much find all of that readily available on the web these days.

Don't think I'm hating on Nintendo because I'm a Sony Fanboy, I've played with the Wii for a few minutes and agree it is fun, but to everyone who's boasting about omg Nintendo can do this do that, fact is it's still being done on other consoles and not only Wii.

If people can poke fun and holes at Sony, I think Nintendo deserves just as much negativity just that not many people want to say it because its a fun-factor console, switch it around and everyone would despise Sony in a heartbeat!

Do you mean if the PS3 was a fun oriented console, or if people cared more about graphics than fun?

I mean the games that surround the Wii are more geared towards group fun/novelty where as with the PS3 and the 360 you see people who play it with a skill level like Halo, GOW, Resistence, C.O.D, Socom, etc.

You tell me which console you would play Call of Duty on
Wii or 360? Probably a 360 right? Where as if I wanted to play Zelda, hands down I'd rock it out on a Wii and not a 360 - ya feel me?

Especially when Wii is came out with games like Zelda, Super Monkey Banana Blitz, Red Steel, etc.

I agree somewhat. Nintendo does have an overall different approach to gaming (with the controller, thats pretty obv.)
Its not entirely untrue that alot of the games for nintendo's are for kids, and theres less hardcore game games for us.
That said, its not like theres only kid games for Nintendo consoles. I think nintendo has a good enough history of kickass games and licenses, to get me to buy their next-gen.
While I agree I can find a lot more (numberwise) games I like on the xbox than on the Gamecube, none of them hit my "gaming spot" better than the few bombs on GC. (for ex Windwaker for its huge playtime and story, and mario kart or SSB for the multiplayer fun).

And actually COD was the worst example to use in my case. I cant stand FPS with analog sticks. I just cant.
On the wii you use your remote to point around and shoot. Its got a sharp learning curve, but once you have it down it works alot better.

i got to agree though, some of these novelty games are tremendous amounts of fun. I only played about 20mins worth of zelda and i had a blast, I should get some more game time in at my friends this weekend, its a toss up between zelda and gow.

you are absolutely right however just think of iTunes. It is easy to download illegal mp3's. Still the iTunes music store is a big succes because it is easy to download, you have the mp3 in a few clicks. I haven't tried the Wii yet but nintendo will probaly have a simple way to download and pay for these old games.

everyones definition of 'easy' is different, just some people have more resources than others.

Why wouldn't pay for it? I am not mister innocent I have lots of mp3's on my harddrive. What I mean is that the idea of the virtual console is great and when it is setup in an easy way it is a huge addition to the system. That you played all kind of roms/old games is nice but remember that there are lots of people who didn't

Ofcourse the homebrew guys and the tech people will write some stuff that you can play all kind of roms out of the flash card you can put in the wii.

However a lot of people just want to turn on the wii and play. No scripts, hacks or mods. When they see that an old game is available they might want to play it because of sentimental values or something. Espacially if it is possible to download and play within a few clicks while sitting on your couch.
