| Don't touch anything on the harddrive. Don't mess with any of the files at all. Now go get a system restore program. |

umm... I found this info
1. Turn off your computer immediately!!!
2. Place the hard drive in another computer
3. Run a program like Ontrack to recover your files
4. Prey that most songs are still there(if they haven't been overrriden, then they should be there) |

by going into my incoming folder and having winamp check for all file types, i can still play some files. they even have their id3 tags.
this looks like it was a mass rename. where did you read that jonSun? |

system restore won't do . YOu got file system corruption. the good news that there's a good chance your stuff is still there, it needs to be pried out.
you need to obtain a copy of systinternals ERD (emergency recovery disk). You burn it on CD, insert a working drive (with plenty of space to move your data to). You boot from ERD and run a utility to recover your data. The way it works is it actually reads the data from drive instead of relying on your MBR/FAT (table of contents of stuff on your drive). Think of it this way: the table of contents page has been ripped out but the rest of the book should still be there.
Hope this helps. good luck. |

That works, you could also try doing a checkdisk on your harddrive.
Goto Start
Click Run
Type cmd, then hit ok.
Type chkdsk /R
Type Y for yes.
Reboot.
If your machine is running, your drive is prolly not damaged, windows might have just screwed up. |
