Wow Wow Wow, what a cRaZy night! Many thanks to the Spundae crew for speeding us through the huge line that had already formed at 10 p.m., I know they were trying to get as many people inside fast as possible!
I gotta say that the back room was really off the hook the whole night, LA’s local DJ’s really did what they do best! On top of the back room being completely packed, the front floor was also full, starting with Cody’s great set all the way to the end, leaving the upstairs loft a nice place to chill once in a while.
Never seen Donald Glaude before, but I can say that the Energizer Bunny Rabbit’s got nothin’ on him! The energy in the room was very high, and Donald even managed to move towards a crazy electro/techno beat toward the end of his set, to the point that Blank & Jones’ style really went with the flow! Donald even had me on the dance floor toward the end, which is kinda rare for a House DJ, but I knew all along that we could get along…lol! ;)
Bob was playing in the backroom same time as Blank & Jones, and this was just an impossible choice! When I was in the back room, the tracks were really going off and the crowd was feeling it: “Hey boy, hey girl, superstar DJ, here we go!!” :toocool:
Piet & Jaspa ended their set with “Mind of the Wonderful” (pretty sure it was the Martin Roth remix), and everyone’s pleading “One More” but they were at the mercy of the powers that be and so just waved us a good night. Then, they threw on a new remix of “Forest” and everyone goes wild. 30 seconds into the track, someone throws the power switch and the night's over. Not a great way to say goodnight to the closing DJ’s and an eager crowd that just wanted one more encore track. Hope this doesn’t happen again to Solarstone like at Vanguard when security turned off his mixer halfway through “Seven Cities!” There’s a balance between right and wrong, and some things are just wrong! :whip:
It was still a great night, nice to see the floor so packed when other big events were also going on, looks like the EDM scene is stronger than ever in LA and we’ll be back for more! Oh, and someone asked me where to find Blank & Jones’ new t-shirt, so take a look in their online shop & you’ll be stylin’! :D
great pics, thank you so much. wish i coulda been there. sorry to have missed pysonics 2 but i had family coming into town and priorites took over. looks like a great night

Sarah, you definitely missed out! Spundae rocked on Saturday night!!!
I started my night upstairs dancing to Mara's (DJ Fluff) set which I really enjoyed. It was definitely different from the last time I saw her spin, a looong time ago (during her trance days :o). When Piet and Jaspa got to the club I went to say hi and chat with them for a while. Before I knew it, it was time for them to get on the decks and I realized I pretty much missed the whole Donald Glaude set. I did try to listen to it with one ear while chatting upstairs and I thought it wasn't as energetic as usually but that could be because the other ear wasn't paying attention :toothless BTW, another example how nice B&J are: They could've started playing at least 15 mins earlier but they noticed how much the crowd was digging Glaude so they wanted to give him more time on the decks :)
B&J sets are not really my cup of tea but I really liked their set this time. I was actually bummed out about that because Bob was playing in the back room at the same time and I hate running back and forth between the rooms. I love Bob's psy-trance sets but I got "stuck" in the main room longer and more often than I wanted to (sorry Bob :(). One time I even had to run back to the main from the bathroom because I heard B&J playing my song Life Less Ordinary :D But whatta hell was up with the curtain blocking half of the club on a crowded special event???
Was great to see many cool people I love to hang out with at Spundae! You know who you are ;)
My pics (the cam battery died on me so I didn't get to take as many pics as I wanted)

There was great talent everywhere on Saturday night, it was a hard choice to choose! We chose Vanguard + Avalon again though. Tong still brought it but I really would've loved to see B&J again. Prior to Saturday night, I was pondering what it was going to be like having the Glaudefather open for B&J but I guess it worked out just fine, huh?
in2muzikk - That was your first time seeing Glaude? Unreal seeing he spins in LA 10 times a month lol!

Donald usually spins very electro and techy house so it's nothing from the norm. That is recent Donald anyway. He used to drop nothing but funky house earlier in the decade, now it's all tech.
