| Friday night i was talking with my boy who said he knew a promoter and gave me his sn. So i talked with the promoter and whatever things were good he said ''aite no doubt come by dj for a lil bit but me me a demo mix.'' So i gave him the demo mix. I was the happiest person in the world after that. I told everyone i knew about it and asked them to come down with them and there freinds. So anyway now sunday and i get a call from the guy saying ''hey whatsp man i got some bad news .... I heard your demo and i cant let you dj, the crowd i bring, the parties i promote, and the people who come down just to dance ... they just dont do trance music..'' So im not djing the party i am so pissed and sad cuss i spent about 200$ on new trance tracks expecting to get paid wednsday. And it in SUCKSS!!!!!!!! WHY DONT PEOPLE LIKE TRANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! And now i have to call everyone i called up and say '' hey man uhhhh u remember that party i was so excited about djing ... well im not djing anymore sorry'' thats the werst part of it :whip: :whip: :whip: |

So in all your talks with this guy about an upcoming gig, you never talked about the music format?
I don't understand why you're making a broad generalization because one promoter, who obviously doesn't cater to trance DJs, cancelled your gig when he found out what you played.
Would you be making the same comments if you were a funky house DJ and the promoter did trance parties, saying "House gets no respect in NYC?" |

| He did ask me but the first thing that came out of his mouth when I talked to him was wether or not i could bring people, and that is never a problem :D when he asked about what style of music i play i told him i play trance but he didnt say anyhting about it then. Thats why im so pissed!~ |

I wouldn't go as far to say trance gets no respect in NYC. What does it mean that greats such as Armin, Ferry, A&B, PvD, Tiesto come here? I understand you're pissed but relax a little bit. It's not the end of the world. It could always be worse.

chalk it up for experience. you can say, 'oh well', but get something out of this.
don't count your chickens before your eggs hatch.
sure, you'll get excited about getting a gig, but get details on the promoter and party. do your research if you're serious about gigging.
if you do want to play your music, in this case trance...seek the promoters who are doing those parties.
if pvd is pulling tens of thousands of people to his gigs, i don't think you can say trance gets no respect. on the other hand, k-fed gets no respect in new york.
