its interesting to read this thread because not only do i like trance, but i also like metal, industrial, etc. i have friends who are only into electronic music, and friends who are only into metal/industrial types, so i can see both sides of the issue...
though this guy probably did come off as an idiot, i dont even get into music arguments with my non-electronic music friends, because they mirror the sentiments of that guy (and id venture to say most do)... they will say "its not real music. it wont ever be as good as music with real instruments".
hell, i used to think that until i really got into electronica. now i dont know why he came in the trance room to begin with, but i understand his point of view at least... had one of you gone into a metal/rock/anything else besides electronica chat and said similar things like he is saying (metal isnt real music.. it sucks, blah blah), im sure all of them would have posted a similar thread on their board about how much of a lam0r you are too.
dunno, just something to think about :)
(p.s.: old marilyn manson really is quite good.. im talkin portrait cd days, anything before antichrist superstar came out.) |

yeah, i was kinda thinking the same thing..
people are always arguing over their differences, that's the dumb part, not what their differences actually ARE.
i am a converted metal freak myself, i have liked manson since the early days of portrait of an american family too.
now, i like trance, cuz i found that music was really making me negative. but i still have all the manson CDs.
you didn't like anything after antichrist superstar?
i thought that was his best album actually.. after that he.. sold out a little, but it's still good.
anyway, i digress. point is, like what you like, but don't go insulting someone for being different. i hate country, but if i went to a country board and started dissing dwight yoakam, I'D be in the wrong, as would the people who dissed me back.

antichrist superstar was ok but thats when he started to sell out, wearing makeup and , i dunno.
i dont think i would have ever considered it metal tho. i like black metal a lot.. hehe. i swear i need to just live in sweden or norway with my musical tastes. |

Yeah, dude's who listen to that type of angry rock music will never like trance. I frankly can't stand the stuff, too aggressive and un-melodic. What those punk rock people need are some pills...and then when their properly converted, we could all do lines to celebrate.

uh, you obviously didnt read my response.
i love black metal (as in, a really extreme branch of metal.. a lot harder than marilyn manson or any new rock ), and i also love trance. throw that stereotype out the window yo. |

You're right. Sorry for the overgeneraliziation. What I should've said was people who were close-minded about music (If memory serves right he was listening to Airwave (don't know if it's the Rank 1 song or L-Vee but either way), and called it crap). And I suppose I shouldn't have said NEVER like trance because anyone, no matter how they seem at the time, could have a sudden change of heart.
I stand by comments about the drugs though.

Hey!Why can't you guys be more open-minded like sothis here?
I mean, I like all sorts of music,or i try to listen to them,cause music is some sort of religion for me..and I believe that no music is bad!
As for my personal preferences,i am a great fan of trance when i'm in my pc(my mp3 collection all rests here),but when i'm in my room I mostly listen to all sorts of metal,with Black being one of my favs!
So,throw that sterotype out the window and make sure a car squeezes on it and some dog eats it!! |
