This wld take quick answering.. I produce on my PC and wanna upgrade my soundcard to a MIDI one so I can use a midi controller.
Question 1: I need a MIDI soundcard if I wanna use a MIDI controller right?
Question 2: Assuming I'm using reason/cubase/fruity, would a Tascam US-122 and a midi controller suffice?
All I want is to be able to play the notes using a midi controller keyboard instead of using my PC keyboard.
Cheers! |

soundcard and midi interface are two different thigns man.
that said... most "soundcards" do come with a midi interface lol.
also, most midi keyboards are USB these days, so they have their own midi interface. so you dont NEED to buy a soundcard, just the keyboard. BUT, i would buy a decent soundcard anyway. audiophile 24/96, youre going to need it ;) |

Does that mean i could just get a MIDI controller like the M Audio Radium or Evolution or the Edirol PCR series and use it with my Sound Blaster 5.1 ??
Then there's the question bout the lag. I will need a good soundcard to minimize that won't I? |

Yes and yes.
lag = latency. having a better soundcard will fix that. alternatively you could use the ASIO4ALL software. but yeah, sound blasters aren't great anyway. |
