Quebec and Hong Kong

I must say sorry if I am saying this without proper knowledge about Quebec and rest of Canada. Anywho, as I notice the situation about Quebec (A Nation within Nation), I remind Hong Kong and China perticularly. I know Hong Kong and Quebec are totally different. But if Quebec is gonna be a nation within nation, Will that be like Hong Kong?
Alex
Entirely different circumstances, if there's any comparisson it would be like England's relationship to Scotland (also popping up in the news) Or the situation in Spain even, albeit less violent.

If Quebec became its own nation and still not part of Canada, Quebec would be a 3rd world country. Quebec not industrialized enough by my standards for it to go at it alone. Honestly how many more businesses will now move to Ontario. Also imagine the new laws the Quebec government would put into place. Probably arrest you for speaking english. Close down any school that teaches english. Probably hire the FLQ to start firebombing the West Island and Westmount. Seperatists by my standards should be dealt with as terrorist or right-wing nuts similar to the Nazi's or white supremacists or dictatorship.

:p
Alex
Nah you're putting them in a much worse light than they deserve Jesse!

Besides, Boisclaire is a tool, he thinks that Harper is assisting him with this statement, whereas in truth the Bloc is the only party that isnt 100% supporting this notion (They changed the wording slightly), making it one of the most unified decisions the parliament has ever made :p

the world, not Quebec and Canada.

i hope this is sarcastic because if its not you obviously have no historic notions.

The Quebec separatist mouvement is one of the most (if not the most) peaceful movement in the history of separatist movements. Nothing compared to ETA or the IRA

The anglophones have (because of historical socio-economic situation) been the elite of the province, position which they now share with the Francophones. That fact is undeniable. Anglophones are a great addition to the diversity found in Montreal
Alex
Well dont write the seperatist movement off as THAT peaceful I mean yes it is probably the most (or one of the most) peaceful, but they did kidnap a british diplomat, and they did kill a politician (The FLQ that is) and it got to the point where Martial law was declared on Montreal, so yeah...
jesteraver
I'm just fed up about hearing about these seperatist s I am a quarter french, my mom side 100% french and they can not stand these ******s, it will only help a certain amount of people and over everyone else.

Honestly I don't see how much better Quebec will be if it was its own nation.

Plus a certain part of what I posted before i was being sarcastic (but just slightly), if I pissed off any Bloc supporters or wtv oh well sorry. Thats politics!

I just want the Liberals back in power.

Would be nice another referendum in Quebec ... the seperatist win ... i hope Canada invades Quebec or destroy all of Quebec city with all the seperatists :p Only way that wont happen if Quebec City becomes protected under UNESCO LOL ... probably which it already is.

And here's a list of countries which Quebec surpasses in economy size, in fact if Quebec was independant, it would sit at #27 spot, for a small 7.5 million state that is very good.

Denmark
South Africa
Greece
Ireland
Finland
Portugal
Argentina
Hong Kong
Venezuela
Israel
United Arab Emirates
Czech Republic
Singapore
Chile
New Zealand
Egypt

and our per capita gdp is 19th in the world comparable to France, Germany or Italy, are these countries poor?
Alex
I agree with you Malek.

Quebec would be able to survive on its own, Paul Martin was an idiot for saying Quebec was too small to make it...

Cough Republic of Ireland cough, similar situation to ours, cough cough.

That being said I dont want Quebec to seperate.

malek
Quebec is not ready yet for separation, we need to make some cleaning in the house first. Our economy is the most diverse in Canada and the people well educated (except retarded jess who would be the first to arrive in toronto).

Its in the best interest of both Canada and Quebec to make this happen and get it over with and go on with our separate paths.

Smaller and more disorganized countries made it happen, I don't see why we can't make it work over here.
Alex
I still think its impossible that this will happen, the Federal government likes leaving Quebec hanging on the edge of the seperation cliff, that way they get career and popularity boosts from the asshats in parliament when they start talking unification blah blah blah.

The only Prime Minister of Canada that has to date ever given a about Quebec staying part of Canada has been Brian Mulroney, hard to believe given how much of a jerk/pompous assface/lying punk this guy was, but e he ACTUALLY DID CARE. I suggest trying to dig up that CBC special where they have all his phone conversations with a certain media guy taped and played, he sincerely did care about Quebec staying a part of Canada.
