I really love these things, they really put the uplifting "feeling" into the tracks. I use the Izotope Ozone harmonic exciter and it makes a big difference. My question --> Is it wise to use the harmonic exciter on individual tracks or is it better to use it on the sum channel? What do you guys normally do in your songs?

Generally depends on what effect i'm going for but if i use it on the master i use it sparingly!

Tell me more about it :conf:

use it on single tracks and not on the master..

A harmonic exciter is essentially a distortion but which only works on a very narrow frequency range.

Use it when you need to use it. Don't get all fire and forget on everyone's ass and start using them without thinking what you are doing. But then that applies to every processing hoop you make your sound jump through.
