It really depends on what type of synthesis you prefer and what type of character and sound you are going after. A Triton usually lets you work off of sample synthesis and thus can produce a very wide range of sounds, especially with the EX because it has it's own sampler. Another thing that the EX has that is very nice is its tube compressor which really adds to warmth and character to the sound. But, regardless of how beautiful or evil you can make the Triton sound, you can never match the pure mellow portamento of a good Nordlead or the gut-smashing bass of a Virus. Plus, I personally like the red/orange color of the Nord better than the moss greenish feel of the EX.
From a buisness and production standpoint, the Triton is the smarter decision you can make because of the sheer power and ability of the device, but most TA posters will disagree because of the novelty of owning a Nordlead or a Virus. (Which doesn't suck either.)
