ok so i need a DI box so that i can plug my vocal mic into my mixer (which is a stanton SA-8) so i can record vocals. I was wondering what kind of DI box would be better for this a passive of active one. I dunno anything about this so all help is apreciated.

Thanks a lot

don't you want a preamp for mic? :/

i thought DI boxes were only for guitars etc.

I think you want to make the choice between passive or ACTIVE.

DI boxes are only needed to turn a line level signal into a mic level signal. A vocal mic is not a line level signal (obviously), so a DI box is not needed for you to plug your mic into your mixer.

However... unless your "vocal mic" is a dynamic mic, you're going to need phantom power to power it up, which dj mixers do not have. If it is dynamic, then all you need is an XLR -> 1/4" cable to plug into the mixer. You may run into a problem with that though, since the mic is a mono source and the channels on the mixer are stereo. Unless of course, that mixer has a mic input on it.

I hope some of this helps you!
