SAMPLE

it doesnt sound like its driving. eq it so it sits in the mix but it might be the vst settings. im sure someone knows how to do it though. ive always had problems programming bass.
Eldritch
Off beat basslines never really sound that driving.

Try this pattern on a low sub bass synth.
Use 32nd note lengths or short decay.

maybe try adding a double bass tone on every off beat? (instead of a single drone) - that could add some drive maybe?

sounds a bit strange that. see when you select 32nd notes in cubase its like:

K-------K--------K-------K-------
Eldritch
No, no. They should be 16th notes. But the length of the notes themselves should be 32nd.

i think it's a combination of the running line with the offbeat line , and not just the offbeat sound itself.

dj_kane, Its this the sound you are looking for. Sean Tyas and John O' Cal are good friends of mind and they have given me tips here and there most of it is up to on how you compress and what kicks and percs u add around your bassline. Ill be glad to help you out mate. heres the following tips I have to offer with a sample included.

#1. V-Station is your Best Friend for these kinds of basses Used by my self, Sean , and Joc

#2. Its 4 bass layers

High Rolling Arp Bassline
High Mid offbeat Bassline
Low Mid Offbeat Bassline
Sub Offbeat Bassline

#3. Eq Varies by the sounds u are useing but in the clip I have provide the Following

Hig Rolling Bline = Low End Cut at 800 HZ,High End Cut at 10,000 Hz

Hig Mid Bass Line = Low End Cut at 400 Hz, High End Cut at 2,000 Hz (adds a bit of Distortion to the Main Drive of the offbeat bassline

Low Mid Bass Line = Low End Cut at 125 Hz, High End Cut at 3,900 Hz

Sub B Line = Loew End Cut 40 Hz, High End cut at 150 hz

Hopefull some of these quick tips will be helpful to yas>
